Abstract: 

A descriptive study to assess the knowledge and coping strategies of care takers of elderly having agitated behavior in selected community. Methodology: The study setting was in the selected rural area (Vill. SaraiKhas which comes under CHC Kartarpur, Distt: Jalandhar, Punjab). It has a population of more than 7000 which contains mostly farmers and many families living outside India. The study sample comprised of 100 care takers. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect the data. Informed consent was taken from the care takers who were selected for the study. Self-Structured knowledge questionnaire and self structured checklist was used to evaluate the knowledge and coping strategies of care takers of elderly having agitated behavior. Result and conclusion: The findings of the study revealed that care takers were having average knowledge regarding agitated behavior of the elderly and also care takers must incapable of using coping strategies against agitated behavior of the elderly.
