Abstract:

The socioeconomic development provided by the non-metallic mineral industries, more specifically the activities of exploration and improvement of ornamental rocks, is of significant importance for the regions where they operate. However, this sector is also responsible for several environmental impacts inherent to the constant generation and inadequate disposal of tailings. Therefore, the need to study the harmful performance of these concerning the environment becomes undeniable. The objective of the research was to identify and understand a technologically viable for the incorporation of abrasive mud, and granite sawdust waste produced on a large scale and discarded in the open, from the State of Paraiba. The methodology adopted consisted of a systematic review focusing on analyzes aimed at both the environmental impacts caused by the abrasive mud and the viable technological routes for its mitigation and/or reduction. The methods for choosing articles and works were based on guiding questions to facilitate and stipulate a path for better elaboration and conclusion of the research. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the analysis of the articles, as well as their structural, conceptual, and referential observation, demonstrate that, despite the advances achieved so far there is still a gap to be filled to resolve this.
