SCOPE & CHALLENGES IN VALUE ADDITION & AGRO PROCESSING IN INDIAN AGRICULTURE

Based on the classification of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the value addition & agro processingsector includes dairy, fruit and vegetable processing, grain processing, meat and poultry processing, fisheries, and consumer foods and packaging, including canned food. India's agricultural production base is quite strong but at the same time, wastage of agricultural produce is also on a large scale. Processing in fruits and vegetables is about 2.20 percent which is very little compared whereas 35 percent in milk, 21 percent in meat and 6 percent in poultry.

ANALYSIS OF THE MIYAWAKI AFFORESTATION TECHNIQUE

This article gives a detailed description of the Miyawaki afforestation method. It gives the steps for planting a Miyawaki forest, the benefits of the Miyawaki forests, the cost of growing the forest and the funding options, how to grow the Miyawaki forest in difficult terrains and how to maintain it. The main criticism levied against this method is that it is too new to know its longevity and hence benefits. However, the article concludes by saying that the Miyawaki method has proved its replicability because Miyawaki forests are grown all over the world now.

PROCESS AND DEVELOPMENT OF HERBAL TEA BAGS WITH THE INFUSION OF ETHNO MEDICINAL HERBS

Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop herbal tea bags with the incorporation of Adhatoda vasica (Adusa) and Tinospora cordifolia (Giloy) to extend its health and nutritional benefits as they have so many attributes such as the green nature of the leaves, the antioxidant properties, polyphenol content and phytochemicals properties which make it useful for development of herbal tea bags. Design/methodology/approach: Physico-chemical, sensory and economic analysis of raw materials and final product was carried out.

A parallel between traditional teaching and teaching though the project

Far from the intention of exhausting the subject on teaching design, even because that would be impossible, this article aims at discussing some proposals for teaching architecture. Based on twenty years of personal teaching experience, and on the exposed bibliography, a parallel is drawn between the teaching traditionally adopted and what we call teaching by project. Where design is understood as research, that is to say, knowledge production within the design laboratory, as opposed to the design studio.

Origin, Domestication, Taxonomy, Botanical Description, Genetics and Cytogenetics, Genetic Diversity, Breeding of Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica (L.) Beauv.)

Foxtail millet belongs to the Family Poaceae, Subfamily Panicoideae, Genus Setaria and Species Setaria italica (L.) P. Beauvois. Foxtail millet scientific name Setaria italica (also known as Panicum italicum L.), is an annual herb cultivated for human consumption. Among millet he is the second most widely cultivated and is the most cultivated millet species in Asia. Foxtail millet is an annual grass grown for human food. It is the second-most widely planted species of millet, and the most grown millet species in Asia.

Genetic variability, correlation and path analysis studies in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) for growth and yield traits

The present investigation involving sixteen genotypes (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, S10, S11, S12, S13, S14, S15, and S16) of tomato was carried out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) during 2022-2023 at Faculty of Agriculture Farm, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo. The observations were recorded for growth, quality and yield characters. The result revealed that maximum plant height was recorded in genotype S13 (215.33 cm). The maximum number of primary branches was recorded in S8 (16.00) which is followed by S13 (15.00), S7 (14.67), S5 (13.00).

Origin, Domestication, Taxonomy, Botanical Description, Genetics and Cytogenetics, Genetic Diversity, Breeding of Bajra [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br.]

Bajra belongs to the Family Poaceae, Subfamily Panicoideae, Tribe Paniceae, Subtribe Panicinae, Section Panicillaria, Genus Pennisetum and Species glaucum. The word “millet” is derived from the Latin milium, which means “grain.” Pearl millet gets its name from the small, round seeds, which are similar in size and shape to pearls. The plant is also sometimes called “bajra” in India and “bulrush millet” in the United States. Further, Pennisetum glaucum is the scientific name for pearl millet.

Effect of organic and chemical fertilizers on growth and yield of garden pea

A field experiment was carried out at the Crop Botany Field Laboratory of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh. It was done during rabi season of 2017−18 to study the effect of organic and chemical fertilizers on growth and yield of garden pea (BARI Motor-3). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and four replications.

Origin, Domestication, Taxonomy, Botanical Description, Genetics and Cytogenetics, Genetic Diversity, Breeding of Amanranths (Amaranthus spp.)

Amaranthus is a genus of food plants (Amaranthus) belonging to the family Amranthaceae. Amaranthus spp. or known as amaranth is a genus belonging to Amaranthaceae that includes 60–75 species. It is distinguished as the grain, vegetable, and weed or weedy types. The Amaranthacea comprise over 60 genera, which include around 800 species of dicotlyledonous, herbaceous plants, of either annual or perennial growth. The genus Amaranthus comprises 70 species. It shows a wide variety of morphological diversity among and even within certain species.
