Nitrate contamination in vegetables from two selected cities in China

Nitrate contamination is one aspect of the safety issue about vegetables. A fast determination method of nitrite was used to access the nitrite contamination level of vegetables sampled form two selected cities in China (Changde and Yangling). The result indicated that the nitrate contamination level of vegetables from Yangling is higher than vegetables form Changde.  The rood vegetables showed the highest contamination level and leaf vegetables and solanaceous vegetables showed lower. Most of test samples contaminated nitrate with level higher than they corresponding MRL.

Growth rates of Crocodylus porosus (saltwater crocodiles) juveniles in captive condition from madras crocodile bank trust centre for herpetology

The Present study was carried out on Crocodylus porosus from Madras Crocodile Bank Trust, Tamil Nadu during June 2007 to May 2008. The growth rates were higher in monsoon season and lesser in post monsoon season. Of 15 captive juvenile from 3 clutches marked and were recaptured for growth analysis. The survived seven animals were taken for growth ratio of length and weight. The minimum growth ratio of length and weight group of animal was CODE: 301 (Length = 0.015) and (Weight = 0.149).

Population status of grizzled giant squirrel (Ratufa macroura) in chinnar wildlife sanctuary, Southern India

The study of status and conservation of Grizzled Giant Squirrel in the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary was studied. Line transect method was used to assess the population and focal animal sampling was used to collect data on feeding habits of Grizzled Giant Squirrel. One hundred and seven animals were sighted during the study period, mainly along the riverine patches during the period of study.

Influence of micronutrients application on growth and seed yield in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum MILL.)

A field experiment was conducted during rabi-2010 to find out the response of foliar application of micronutrients on vegetative and reproductive growth attributes, in two varieties of tomato viz- Utkal Kumari and Utkal Raja. The treatments consisted of boron, zinc, molybdenum, copper, iron, manganese, mixture of all and control and the experiment was laid our in RBD with three replications. All the Micronutrients except manganese (@ 50ppm) were applied @100ppm in three sprays at an interval of ten days starting from 30 days after transplanting.

Social metabolism: The kinetics of entropy and motivational energy in transforming farm business of India

The creation, growth and decay of any social system, retaining myriads of life forms, have basically been the concerns and exposition of energy. Social Metabolism envisages a natural connectivity amongst physical, biological and social systems and their underlying cybernetics. It is the flow of energy that drives the social systems generating information, applying information and transforming the present social process into a desired social outcome. Energy remains retained, shelved as well as configured within a cell and a social capsule.

Visual assessment and classification of surface soil types in Dryland and Fadama areas of Kebbi state, Nigeria

The need for background information outlining the basic characteristics of surface soil types in the savannah areas is essential for environmental soil management. Visual assessment and classification of surface soil condition is a key to environmental soil management and development. In this study, Visual Soil Assessment (VSA) was used to assess and classify the surface soil condition of dryland and fadama sites of Kebbi State, Nigeria.

Preliminary phytochemical analysis of black gram, Vigna mungo L.

Black gram (Vigna mungo L.) is an important pulse crop occupying unique position in Indian agriculture. The study of phytochemicals, secondary metabolic substances in plants are known to provide protection against insect attacks and plant diseases. The current investigation is an attempt to study the preliminary phytochemicals that are present in black gram using different solvent extracts. An experiment was conducted to study the influence of chemical fertilizers (DAP and superphosphate) and leaf extracts (Ocimum basilicum and Lantana camara L.) on the presence of secondary metabolites.

The spatial trends in the community structure of gastropod assemblages the coastal area of Tomia Island, Wakatobi marine national park, Indonesia

Gastropod is one of among the most important taxa of marine benthic that plays ecological role for the ecosystem stability in the coastal area. This study was aimed to elucidate the spatial trends in the community structure of gastropod that assemblages the coastal area of Tomia Island, Wakatobi Marine National Park, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Two transect lines were placed perpendicularly to the coastline for observation the species and their individuals number of gastropod.

Expression of enzyme P450C17 encoding gene CYP17 in the brain of Labeo rohita (HAM.)

Brain is a steroidogenic organ which produces steroids. Our study has been focused to analyze the gene expression in the brain of an Indian Major Carp (IMC), Labeo rohita. This is the first attempt to report the gene expression of CYP17 which codes for the steroidogenic enzyme P450c17 in L. rohita. The brain samples were collected and Total RNA was isolated. The isolated RNA was reverse transcribed into cDNA using RT-PCR. The synthesized cDNA was then added with the gene specific primer and subjected to PCR.

Characterization and antibacterial effect of green synthesised silver nanoparticles by the aqueous extract of Mimusops elengi flower

The present study focus on the green synthesis of AgNPs using Mimusops elengi flower aqueous extract. The flower extracts were analyzed phytochemical constitutions and to used to synthesis of nanoparticles by nitrates reduction method (green synthesis). The AgNO3 solution will reduce AgNPs by this flower extract present in the carbohydrates, protein, alkaloids, reducing sugar, aromatic acids and tannins. The green synthesized AgNPs were characterized by using UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy.
