Abstract:

Introduction: There is evidence that the impaired childhood growth and development that result from poor nutrition are linked to chronic disease in adulthood. Proper nutrition is a basic component of health, growth and development for maintaining health through-out life. So there is the need to assess the knowledge, attitude & practice among school aged children regarding the importance of micronutrients as they are at growing stage. Methodology: Analysis of the data was done in accordance with the objectives. It was done by descriptive statistics such as calculating the mean, percentage, standard deviation and inferential statistics such as paired t-test and chi-square. Findings: The study indicates that the knowledge level of the school students was less than 60% in the pre-test, the t-test computed between mean post-test knowledge score & mean pre-test knowledge score indicated significant difference in the knowledge score (t=5.151, p<0.05) thus it is concluded that the STP was an effective strategy for gaining knowledge, the chi-square was computed and noticed that gender plays an important role improving the knowledge.
