The aim of this paper is to analyze the content and illustrations of fungi in high school biology textbooks used at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição State High School (CENSC) in Miguel Calmon /BA. The analysis of the three textbooks used by the high school students (1st, 2nd and 3rd years) of CENSC plus two collections, regarding the presence of the theme Fungi, having as evaluation criteria: number of pages, characterization of the fungi, importance of fungi, fungal-related images, and additional parts for teachers and students. It can be observed that all the books had their contents in short form, the approach was more superficial, covering very general aspects of the Fungi kingdom and little mentioning its relationship with human health and the environment. There is a need to improve the content of textbooks in relation to the fungi theme.
