Abstract: 

The aim of the article was to verify the knowledge of young people from public schools in Teresina in the State of Piauí about suicide and prevention before and after the intervention. It was a quantitative research, through information collected by questionnaires applied to adolescents aged 12 to 18 years in public schools in Teresina - PI. Data collection was carried out in June and July 2020. Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel software, whose results were presented in the form of graphs. The adolescents' real knowledge about suicide was obtained, in a total of 20 students, they considered it important to talk about suicide. At the end of the research, 14 students came to know the support sites in Teresina, in relation to having someone they could trust to vent 14 students said they have and 14 students considered having participated in a lecture with the intervention, until then they did not remember or had participated. According to the data obtained with the research, it was possible to perceive that 100% (20) of the adolescents participating in the research stated that it is necessary and important to talk about suicide prevention, especially among young people, in addition, it was a self-reflection of the participants of the research. research on self-care and the importance of talking about suicide responsibly.
