The experience of healthcare professionals in the face of oncological pain in children

The nursing team involved in the care of children with cancer can use recreational activities that can minimize the pain of being involved in such a painful and compromising process. Objective: of this study was to understand the experience of nursing professionals involved in the treatment of children with cancer in the face of pain. Method: A descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach was carried out. A semi-structured interview was carried out with eight professionals from the nursing area as a form of data collection. As a methodological reference, the narrative was used. Results: reveal that nursing professionals seek to get closer to patients in order to get to know them better so that they can bring the child and their families closer to the nursing team and thus gain trust and empathy. In search of a better result, the team adopted during the treatment games and recreational objects that aim to reduce or alleviate the pain and suffering of children and their families.Conclusion: that the nursing team must provide care in a humanized way, and consider that pain is not only physical, it is necessary to look at the child in all its context.
