Abstract:

Conduct a study on cattle ranching in the state of Pará from 2010 to 2019, emphasizing herd growth over the years, the export of meat produced and the main changes in the use and applications of modern technologies. Over the years we observed that in Brazil cattle breeding has increased, however, states that had cattle breeding as production characteristics in agribusiness, increased production on their land for grains, eucalyptus and sugarcane, with this other states began to stand out in the national scenario as the largest cattle breeders. We highlight several states among them Mato Grosso, Rondônia and Pará, which has the fourth largest herd (20,881,204 cattle) and the largest buffalo herd in Brazil. Data obtained from the Agricultural Defense Agency of Pará - ADEPARÁ, Ministry of Agriculture - MAPA, Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - IBGE among dozens of other references, allowed to have an overview of the cattle breeding system throughout the state, which impresses by its territorial extension, larger than many countries. The state of Pará between 2010 and 2019 had an 18.42% growth in its cattle production and when analyzing data from the 30 municipalities in Brazil that have expanded their herds the most in the last ten years (2010 – 2019) in absolute numbers, 10 municipalities are located in Pará and among them stands out the municipality of São Félix do Xingu which holds the first position since 2010 (IBGE, 2019a). Through this study, it can be noticed that due to the increasing expansion of cattle ranching in Pará over the years, the use of appropriate management techniques, the use of areas already deforested, however, idle and large areas for expansion, will allow pará to soon become the state with the largest cattle herd in the country. Adding value in this scenario, by being located in a strategic region and having several points, in several regions of the state that allows the export of this meat to many countries of the world.
