Estimation of haemoglobin status of farm women: a socio-economic and agro-ecological perception

Anemia is a common health problem among women throughout the world. However, there has been minimal research on farm women’s concepts of anemia. The present study was thus undertaken with the objective to assess the agro-socio-economic factors related to haemoglobin content of farm women, of West Bengal, India. The study was confined to the women of age group of 19-60 years. A total of 211 women were selected randomly. Their haemoglobin (%) was measured by collecting blood samples.

Assessment of anxiety symptoms in adults with acne vulgaris

Background: Acne vulgaris has been associated with psychiatric and psychological problems and it is one of the leading causes of anxiety in adolescents and adults. Aim of this study: To assess the link between anxiety symptoms and patients with acne vulgaris in relation to the severity of the disease, its localization and socio-demographic data. Material and Methods: A transverse cross-sectional study was undertaken from January 2010 to September 2011. In it participated 360 patients with acne vulgaris and 289 healthy individuals, of both sexes, 18-35 years old.

Depression among medical students at qassim university rate, severity, and contributing factors; using BDI II

Background: Medical education is an intensely competitive program; students go through severe stress while in it. They are known to be the victims of tremendous mental stress. They experience a variety of psychological changes in their medical school life from young insecure students to excellent physicians. Depression among medical students is an area of increasing concern worldwide. Objective: To determine the Depression rate among medical students at different levels of education, taking gender differences into account and find out their contributing factors.

Detection of eating disorders in university students using scoff questionnaire

Eating disorders are the group of conditions characterized by abnormal eating habits, EDs such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified EDNOS are common both in western countries and non western countries. Recently, the prevalence of eating disorders has also been reported in several Asian countries including Pakistan. EDs are most common in students particularly University students. The purpose of this study is to screen the students of Sindh University for the likelihood of eating disorders using SCOFF test.

Theoretical consequence in 2013 in benin of the fight against fuel sellers of contraband and the consumers' renunciation price differential

This article presents the essential elements on the foundations and evolution of the crisis of the petroleum products commerce in Benin. After having tried without success to stop such commerce, the State has passed to the extreme during the years 2012 and 2013, putting the contribution in this struggle, soldiers, policemen and other. Then, the sellers of contraband petroleum products are henceforth more distrustful than ever with a big hostility to all kind of investigating about them.

Job satisfaction and job autonomy of extension personnel of the public agricultural extension organization in Tripura state of North-East India

Progress of any organization greatly depends on job satisfaction and job autonomy of the employees in the organization. Job satisfaction and job autonomy are the two important indicators of a successful organization. The study was conducted in all four districts of Tripura state of North-East India and from all districts the extension personnel were selected randomly. As per the objective of the study, the information was collected using structured interview schedule.

A study of effects of Izterab-E-Nafsani (anxiety) and its management with reference to Unani system of medicine: A review

I chose this topic for the study about Izterab-e-Nafsani (anxiety) to make people aware about it as people usually think that it is an abnormal condition of the body. In fact, anxiety is a feeling that is necessary in order for human beings to live, whether they like it or not. There are both positive and negative effects of anxiety. Positive anxiety effects include alerting human beings of danger, motivating them to action, and physically preparing the body to fight or escape. The negative effects of anxiety include palpitation, irritability, poor concentration, memory loss and insomnia.

Analysis of different chemical dyes on fabrics based on their dyeing properties

Dyes are coloured substances which can adhere to the surface of material and are used to give colour to paper, food stuffs and various textiles such as cotton, wool, synthetic fibre, silk etc. Dyeing of textiles has been practiced for thousands of years. The present work focuses on dyeing of cotton and wool by dyes like malachite green and vasantha colour. Also the dyeing properties of cotton without using the mordant is also analysed.

Prevalence of pathogenic microbes in post operative wound infections in various surgical specialities

The prevalence of post operative wound infections and its antimicrobial resistance pattern may vary from region to region and was included in this study. A battery of 108 post operative wound cases were included thereby various potential bacterial pathogens isolated from 94 patients and 134 isolates were possibly recovered. Among them Staphylococcus aureus (29.8%) predominated, followed by Escherchia coli (14.2%), Klebsiella pneumonia (11.9%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (3%), Proteus mirabilis (1.5%), Serratia marcescens (0.7%) and Candida albicans (0.7%).
