Budget deficit and selected macroeconomic variables in Nigeria: A toda-yamamoto causality approach

This study examined the relationship between budget deficit and macroeconomic variables in Nigeria for the quarterly period of 1970 -2011. The study employed the augmented Granger causality test approach developed by Toda and Yamamoto (1995). The result showed a strong unidirectional causality from budget deficit to macroeconomic variables in Nigeria. The result supported the Keynesian proposition. Also the evidence from Johansen co-integration result indicated that there is a positive long run relationship between budget deficit and macroeconomic variables.

Expression of enzyme P450C17 encoding gene CYP17 in the brain of Labeo rohita (HAM.)

Brain is a steroidogenic organ which produces steroids. Our study has been focused to analyze the gene expression in the brain of an Indian Major Carp (IMC), Labeo rohita. This is the first attempt to report the gene expression of CYP17 which codes for the steroidogenic enzyme P450c17 in L. rohita. The brain samples were collected and Total RNA was isolated. The isolated RNA was reverse transcribed into cDNA using RT-PCR. The synthesized cDNA was then added with the gene specific primer and subjected to PCR.

Characterization and antibacterial effect of green synthesised silver nanoparticles by the aqueous extract of Mimusops elengi flower

The present study focus on the green synthesis of AgNPs using Mimusops elengi flower aqueous extract. The flower extracts were analyzed phytochemical constitutions and to used to synthesis of nanoparticles by nitrates reduction method (green synthesis). The AgNO3 solution will reduce AgNPs by this flower extract present in the carbohydrates, protein, alkaloids, reducing sugar, aromatic acids and tannins. The green synthesized AgNPs were characterized by using UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy.

To study the impact of personality dimensions on identity crisis among adolescents

Adolescence and identity crisis is a much discussed phenomena. As growing individuals, their personality dimensions or a set of characteristics are also playing an important role in their being. The present study attempts to explore the relation between personality dimensions and identity crisis of adolescents if any.  In the present study, standardized tests were administered to obtain the scores on self image of students (considered as the indicator of identity crisis) and scores on different dimensions of personality.

Study of amphibia fauna of Bundelkhand region with special reference to Damoh district

The pollutants and drastic environmental variation have also adversely effected and changed water qualities i.e. colour, hardness, turbidity, alkalinity, pH. COD, BOD and TDS etc. Aquatic life, thus, also is affected. Changes in morphology of amphibian, like-colour, pigmentation,  length, weight mass, etc. may occur.  This cannot be ignored that the afore-mention variation may be responsible to develop new varieties or sub species. Unfortunately, negligible work is done in relation to amphibian fauna of the area in recent-past.

Regional analysis of various places of begging

The present empirical study aims to analyze the places of begging selected by beggars for begging activity. The study is based on primary source of data, collected through the field survey and direct questionnaire to the respondents in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh during 2009. The study reveals that majority of the beggars preferred to go for begging in the residential areas, markets and religious places and remaining in the functions, railway station, etc.

Standardization of germination media for seedling evaluation of davana (Artemisia pallens)

Davana (Artemisia pallens) is an important high valued annual medicinal and aromatic herb of India belonging to the family Asteraceae. India has a monopoly in production and export trade of davana oil and India stands 3rd in essential oil production in the world.  Davana is propagated highly through seeds. Either on trade or before sowing evaluation of seed germination is essential. International rules for seed testing recommended different methodological requirements for seed quality evaluation.

Evaluation of the anti-ulcer properties of aqueous leaf extract of Dialium guineense (Velvet Tamarind) on experimentally induced ulcer models in rats

The aqueous leaf extract of Dialium guineense was investigated for anti- ulcerogenic effects using ethanol/HCI and indomethacin as the ulcerogens. The effect of the extract on gastric mucus secretion was also investigated. The extract was administered orally at the doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg for the experimental groups while the control and reference groups received distilled water (5ml/kg, p.o) and cimetidine (32 mg/kg, p.o) respectively.

Nutrient status and establishment of critical values and adequate ranges for different nutrients for rice (Oryza sativa L.) through Dris in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh

The Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) foliar diagnostic norms were developed for N, P, K, S, Zn and Fe and identified the yield limiting nutrients in rice, based on crop nutrient survey of 150 rice fields in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh in India. A wide variation in soils and management practices were noticed in selected rice fields under study. Index leaf samples were collected from all the selected fields at tillering stage and analyzed for N, P, K, S, Zn and Fe contents.

Production potential of sunflower genotypes under varying fertility levels in Andhra Pradesh

At College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, a field trial was carried out during the rainy (kharif) season  for the year 2004-05, the main aim of the research was to analyze the Production potential of two sunflower genotypes (Morden and KBSH-1) under varying fertility levels. The results of the study revealed that, among the growth characters like plant height, number of leaves, total dry matter per plant increased with increase in the fertility levels at each growth stages.
