Introduction: inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) correspond to a group of immune-mediated chronic inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract of unknown causes on genetically predisposed individuals. In this group are heterogeneous diseases that affect the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, being more common Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
