Techniques for production of quality planting materials in orchids

Among orchids, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Vanda, Phalaenopsis, Aerides, Mokara and Paphiopedilum and their related hybrids are highly valued for long lasting cut flowers. The six main techniques used for orchid propagation are division, backbulbs, serial cuttings, kiekies, micro-propagation and seed culture. Conventionally, sympodial orchids like Cattleya, Dendrobium, Paphiopedilum and Cymbidium are multiplied through divisions whereas monopodials viz. Vanda, Aerides, Arachnis, Mokara etc. through cuttings.

Diversity assessment of mosquitoes with reference to the occurrence of vector borne diseases in Thalassery municipal area of Malabar coast, Kerala, India

Repeated outbreaksof vector-borne diseases necessitateddetailed study on the diversity and abundance of mosquitoes associated withThalassery municipal area, of Kannur district, Kerala, India.Seasonal collection of mosquitoes both in adult and larval forms were carried outfrom heterogeneous habitats of the municipal area to determine the species composition, relative abundance and habitat characteristics. Mosquito larvae collected from temporary and permanent breeding sites were reared to adults in the laboratory for species level identification.

Proteomic analysis and characterization of silk proteins in silkworm (Bombyx mori l.)

Of the various insect species silk producing  insects  which includes Bombyx mori and Antherae mylitta are very famous as these are highly beneficial to the mankind. They produce silk which is worldwide recognized as the Queen of fibres. The demand of silk is increasing in the world day by day and therefore many scientists are involved to increase the production and productivity of silk by using latest technologies. .

Silk FIBRE obtained from silkworm and Ecotextiles

Fibre is a thread like substance used in textile industry for the production of goods or provision of services. Two major groups of textile fibres are natural & synthetic. Natural Fibres are subdivided into animal, vegetable and mineral fibres. All animal fibres are proteins, all vegetable fibres are cellulose, all mineral fibres are mineral based. Eg:-Silk, cotton, wool, linen, jute etc. Natural fibres tend to have complex and distinctive internal and external features. Natural fibres have variable diameter, cross section and possibly color banding.

Does time reveal physics’ under determinism?

Entropy and absolute temperature, both involved in Carnot’s cycle, imply that time and social constructivism of thermodynamic processes produce sufficient support for reconciling the threefold time emergence: (i) time as  a 1D manifold, (ii) the asymmetric thermodynamic, and (iii) the evolutionary  asymmetric time. Is time whether emerging from entropy as reality with three  different faces or does it mean that we have to manage three different  realities emerging from heat transformation? We put forward three steps. Firstly, we start from a triad of time.

Analysis of energy trade between the European union and Russia

The international sanctions are imposed against Russia following Russia's annexation of Crimea and the Russian military intervention in Ukraine. This paper aims are at analyzing the impact of sanctions on Russian economy and on energy security of European Union (EU) countries. The focus is energy trade between the EU and Russia. Energy security is always one of the most important problems for the EU.

Isolation and identification of Bioflocculant producing bacteria from soil samples of Tay Nguyen, Vietnam

This paper described isolation and identification of the bioflocculant producing bacteria from soil samples of Tay Nguyen region, Vietnam. A total of 117 bacteria were isolated, among of which 26 isolates showed flocculating activity more than 50%. In addition, the influence of carbon and nitrogen sources, as well as cultural conditions such as temperature, pH and incubation time on flocculating activity of the 3 selected flocculant producing isolates were investigated.
