Isolation, Characterisation and biofilm production of e.coli from mackerel (rastrelliger Kanagurta)

Fish and fishery products are of great importance for human nutrition worldwide and provide clear health benefits. Fish can act as a source of food borne pathogens and may be a potential source of infection. A study was undertaken to find out the incidence and characterization of E.coli in fishes, determine biofilm production and antibiotic resistance of isolates. A total of 100.0 raw mackerel fish (Rastrelliger kanagurta) was collected from different markets in and around Puducherry. Fifty two (52.0%) isolates of E.coli were recovered from 100.0 samples.

Pregnant women’s knowledge and perception about antenatal care and prevention of malaria in Ghana

The study investigated pregnant women’s perceptions, beliefs and practices on the use of   Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) for primary prevention of malaria in pregnancy. The objectives included assessing pregnant women’s knowledge and benefits of antenatal care services, attitudes and practices on antenatal clinic attendance and perceptions regarding the use of Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) in pregnancy. An exploratory qualitative research method was used. The population included all pregnant women in a Municipality.

Beauty is appreciated by stimulating the higher sences of sight and sound and has mystified both scientist and artist since the ancient Egyptians some 5000 years ago. Beauty is all about perspective or point of view. The same thing which is beautiful in one's eyes, could be viewed as an ugly thing in another's. Understanding patient’s perceptions of their dental appearance is an important aspect of patient management which may assist dentist in planning treatment that are acceptable to the patient leading to higher level of patient satisfaction.

Knowledge and practice on prevention of obstetric fistula among skilled birth attendants in public health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Background: Obstetric fistula although is eliminated in high income countries, it remains prevalent and debilitating condition in many parts of the developing world leaving women with the immediate consequences, such as leakage of urine or feces or both and has been observed since women first began delivering children despite of the fact that it is completely preventable if high quality basic and comprehensive maternal health services are available to all woman during pregnancy and childbirth by a well-trained and knowledgeable skilled birth attendants.

Prevalence of substance abuse and associated factors among university students, Tigray, Ethiopia, 2016

Background: Substance abuse is the taking of substances or a deliberate use of substances for the purposes other than its intended purpose. It is estimated that 9% of the global population aged 12 or older are classified with dependence on psychoactive substance such as alcohol. Substance abuse among Ethiopia adolescents is considerably rising.  Therefore this study aimed that to assess prevalence of substance abuse and associated factors among university students, Tigray, Ethiopia, 2016. 

Patterns of preterm neonatal death and associated factors in ayder referral hospital neonatal unit from 2010- 2014 (five years record review), Tigray Region, North Ethiopia

Background: Worldwide prematurity and its complications are the leading cause of death among newborns accounting for 1million deaths per year. In Ethiopia among the three main direct causes of neonatal death, prematurity and its complications account 37 %. Therefore,   this study aimed to assess patterns of preterm neonatal death and associated factors in Ayder referral hospital, North Ethiopia. 

Effect of balanced feeding on snf content of milk: A field study

A study was undertaken to assess the impact of feeding a balanced ration on the SNF content of milk and production performance in crossbred cows in Kozhikode district. Out of 133 animals screened, 73 crossbred cows were identified with low SNF. Milk yield, milk fat, SNF and net daily income of milk producers were recorded before and after feeding a balanced ration. Nutritional status of animals indicated that about 37% of the animals had either deficiency of protein or energy in the ration, whereas, ration of 100% of the animals was deficit in calcium and phosphorus.

Laryngopharyngeal reflux & vocal quality in senior population: "mr./ms. gluttony"

Voice is a carrier of emotions and sentiments. It is, moreover, a distinctive element of one’s personality. Voice is generated in the vocal tract from a sound produced in the larynx. When alterations occur in the normal process of voice emission, that dysfunction is called dysphonia. Dysphonia may be caused by Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR). Correlations among the mentioned parameters are scarcely examined in the existing literature, making it pertinent to render information available and throw light on the issue.

Genetic parameters and effect of non genetic factors on early performance traits of murrah buffalo: A review

The success of Indian dairy industry is much dependent on productivity and efficient reproduction performance of Murrah buffaloes. .It is a established fact that first lactation yield is a good indicator of lifetime performance but still there is further need to study the relationship between first, later lactations and lifetime performance traits for overall better evaluation of genetic worth of the female individual’s own performance and for ranking of sires. Data for the study were gathered through content analysis of secondary sources; it was descriptive and relied on Development Partnership Approach as framework of analysis.
