Effects of varied seasons on productive performances of bovans brown and koekoek chicken breeds in South Wello Zone, Ethiopia

This study was conducted to assess the effect of season (cold, hot and main rainy seasons) on the performances in Bovans Brown (BB) and Koekoek (Kk) chickens. The result revealed that effect of breed on feed intake per bird per day (gm) (FIg/b/d) was significant (P<0.05) and more pronounced in BB, the effect on average daily gain (gm) (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality was also significant (P<0.05) but more pronounced in the Kk breed.

A comparative analytical study of different samples of panchtikta grhita

In view of the present trend of commercialization in the preparation and marketing of Ayurvedic medicine and to ensure the interests of the profession and public, it has become our prime duty to establish the standard pharmaceutical parameter of Sneha Kalpana including manufacturing. Process as well as to find out the physicochemical changes occurring during the process. A standard is a numerical value, which quantity the parameters and thus denotes quality and purity of material.

Meningitis as sole manifestation of chikungunya in a child: Case report

Background: Chikungunya (CHIK) is an insect-borne acute febrile illness characterised by rash and arthralgia.  Neurologic complications though rare has been reported.
Case characteristics: Here we present a case of a 6 years boy who presented with features of meningitis, had no rash, arthralgia but was finally diagnosed as a case of aseptic meningitis caused by CHIKV.
Message: CHIKV should be suspected as an aetiological agent of meningitis in endemic region.

Reducing malnutrition in pregnancy through awareness and utilization of moringa oleifera – a nutritional supplement in awka south local government area of Anambra State

The poor state of health of mothers and their new born babies in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State due to malnutrition and micronutrient deficiency during pregnancy is at increase rate. Some of which are low foetus productivity, low birth weight, cretinisim, brain damage, and above all are maternal morbidity and perinatal mortality. All these health problems could be resolved or reduced to the lowest minimum using a very cheap and affordable plant known as Moringa oleifera – a nutritional supplement.

effects of maternal health education on the health knowledge and attitude of pregnant mothers attending ante-natal clinics in Anambra State, Nigeria

Pregnancy continues to carry a high risk of death worldwide, despite numerous commitments to address the issues that increase maternal mortality. Maternal mortality is a tragedy for the family, as the death of a mother deprives the child of breast feeding and can result in infant mortality. Maternal health education is aimed at improving health knowledge of mothers and enhancing their health attitude. This study was designed to determine the effects of maternal health education on the health knowledge and attitude of pregnant mothers attending antenatal clinics in Anambra State.

A review on role of murraya koenigii (curry leaf) in (diabetes mellitus – type ii) prameha

Diabetes is a problem of body with increase blood glucose level to rise higher than normal called as hyperglycemia. Type- 2 diabetes is most common form of diabetes with a treatment of pills, insulin and lifestyle changes. Management of diabetes type-2 without side effect is a challenge for medical community. Traditional medicine derived from medicinal plant are used by 60 % of world’s population. This reviews focuses on use of murrayakoenigii (Curry leaves) in the treatment of diabetes. Curry leaves has been reported for its antidiabetic, antioxidant property

Spectrophotometric determination of an antidiabetic drug glimepiride bulk and pharmaceutical formulations

A new, simple, precise, sensitive, accurate, and reproducible spectrophotometric method have been developed for the determination of Glimepiride in pure and dosage forms. Method is based on oxidation of the drug with 1,10 phenanthroline producing orange colored chromogen which is measured at 470 nm. Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range of  0.8-8.0 µg/mL for the developed method. The molar absorptivity and Sandell's Sensitivity are found to be9199.14 L mol-1cm-1and 0.053 µg/cm2 respectively.

Microwave assisted synthesis, spectral characterization and biological activities of zn(ii) complex with n,n -donor and octanoate ion as ligands

A novel Zn(II) complex of 2-aminobenzonitrile(ABN)  and   octanoate(OC)  ion was synthesized by using microwave irradiation. Microwave synthesis gives high yield of the complex within a short time. The molecular formula and the probable geometry of the complex have been deduced from elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV, FT-IR, and NMR spectra. The molar conductance indicates that the Zn(II) complex is a non-electrolyte. FT-IR spectra show that 2-aminobenzonitrile is coordinated to the metal ion in a bidentate(N,N-donor) and octanoate ion in monodentate manner.
