Anticancer effect of gemcitabine combined with 5-flurouracil in microemulsion on the hct-116 colon cancer cells

Combination therapies of chemotherapeutic agents in nanoparticelsare promising strategy in releasing the drugs selectively into the targeted tissues and cells. 5-Flurouracil (5-FU) and Gemcitabine (GEM) are antimetabolites used as anticancer drugs. In this study, the antitumor activity of the combination of GEM and 5- FU encapsulated in a micro emulsion (ME) was in vitro evaluated in HCT- 116 colon cancer cells. The inhibition of cell growth was examined by the 3-(4,5dimethyl) ethiazole (MTT) assay.

Gender indices as influenced by different levels of female literacy in Odisha

Pharmacognostic evaluation of fruit of wrightia tinctoria r.br

The present study on pharmacognostic activities of fruit of Wrightia tinctoria R.Br such as fluorescence analysis of powder crude drug and their chemical behavior, consistency, color and pharmacognostic analysis of fruit extracts of W. tinctoria R.Br were studied by using methanol, petroleum ether and ethyl acetate solvents. The result reveals that, the crude drug of fruit of W. tinctoria R.Br was found sticky mass in nature in petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extracts. While, semi solid mass was found in methanolic extracts.

Correlation and path coefficient analysis in cotton

An experiment was conducted on correlation and path coefficient analysis for fibre characters, yield and yield contributing characters in upland cotton with 11genotypes for ten characters at college farm, college of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during Kharif 2007-08 to 2008-09. Correlation studies revealed significant desired association with yield for boll weight and bundle strength. Bundle strength made highly significant contribution to yield. Path matrix revealed that boll number, boll weight and 2.5% span length had maximum direct positive effect on yield.

The viral disease complex of grapevine infectious degeneration and its association with grapevine fan leaf virus in Albania

Recent studies have shown that major grapevine viruses for the Mediterranean region are prevalent in the native cultivars that have been grown for long in Albanian vineyards. Infectious Degeneration disease complex caused by Grapevine Fan Leaf Virus (GFLV), and other viruses, comprises a common phenotype in the field, but GFLV detection in random samplings has shown low frequency.

Present status, problems and researchable issues of betel vine (piper betel L.) production with special reference to northern Karnataka

Betel vine (Piper betle L) is  a perennial climber Betel vine (Piper betle L) is  a perennial climber cultivated for its leaf. In India, 55000 ha and in Karnataka 7143 ha area covered under this crop. This paper is the outcome of series of field visits made to the betel vine growing areas. Significant diversity observed in production aspects and also problems related to crop production. Lack of alternative standard for vine climbing, irrigation methods, fertigation, wilt, snail and un organized marketing are major problems in northern part of Karnataka.

Codification and morphological characterization of the local varieties of corn (zea mays L.) of chad in way of extinction

In Chad, the food security constitutes a problem insofar where the agricultural production cannot satisfy the demand. The main causes of this decline are often imputed to the climate whose the worsening remains certain, but also the no availability of resources genetic of the major cereals crops. Thus, some local varieties of corn are in the way of extinction because the producers cultivate the local and exotic varieties side by side, or they exchange their seeds and caused the loss of their genetic identity.
