Reproductive cycle and histological changes in the gonads of the freshwater crab, barytelphusa guerini (h. milne edwards) (decapoda, potamidea)

The annual reproductive cycle of the crab, Barytelphusa guerini was studied during the period January 2015 to December 2015 by measuring monthly histological variations. Histological observations of the monthly gonads revealed that the ripening of the gonads started in the preparatory period of the reproductive cycle i.e. (January to April) or it may be extended upto the month of May. By that time, the gonads of the most individuals attained maturity and spawning began in the months of June and July.

Studies on effects of dietary aflatoxin on certain biochemical parameters of the fish clarias batrachus

Studies were conducted to determine the effects of different doses of aflatoxin B1 contaminated feed on total serum protein, blood glucose, SGPT, SGOT and serum bilirubin. There was a significant decrease in total serum protein but blood glucose, serum bilirubin, SGPT and SGOT showed a gradual rise with the increase in contamination of aflatoxin in the feeds.

Effect of mycorrhiza fungi propagules and bokashi fertilizer combination to weed density, growth and yield of maize (zea mays l.) on marginal dry land in regency of Kendari, Indonesia

This research was conducted in the Field Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Halu Oleo University, District Kambu, Regency of Kendari, Province of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The objectives of the research was  determined the impact of mycorrhiza fungi and bokashi fertilizer to weed density, growth and yield of maize. The research was conducted in completely randomized block design (CRBD) with factorial pattern and each treatment was repeated three times.

In vivo evaluation of am fungi on dry root rot disease incidence And biometrics of groundnut

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oilseed crop in Indian continent. Groundnut is being infected by several fungal, bacterial and viral diseases but dry root rot caused by Macrophomina Phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. is considered as the most devastating disease in all the groundnut growing areas of Cuddalore. Management of M. phaseolina using chemical control is arduous and uneconomical. Hence, the present study was conducted to assess the effect of native antagonists in combination with potential AMF (G.

Studies on the bioaccumulation of po -210 in the vegetables of Tiruchirappalli City

Natural radiation constitute about 97.7% of total radiation dose received by organisms and the remaining comes from nuclear power sector, nuclear tests, medical and miscellaneous. Major contribution to the various radiation exposure received by mankind comes from natural sources.  In the present study distribution and bioaccumulation of Po-210 has been undertaken in Vegetables from Tiruchirappalli City. Samples of carrot, radish, beans, brinjal, tomato, potato, beet root, cabbage, ladies finger and greens are collected and analyzed.

Cytogenetics of pill clam, pisidium mitchelli (Bivalvia: Pisidiidae)

A cytogenetic study was carried out on the chromosomes of pill clam, Pisidium mitchelli (Bivalvia: Veneroida: Pisidiidae) collected from River Chenab fed stream Gho-Manhasan (Jammu, J&K, India). Chromosomes were studied using Giemsa staining and two banding techniques viz. C-banding & Ag-NOR banding. P. mitchelli shows a diploid chromosome number of 2n=62 consisted of seven metacentric, three submetacentric, eighteen subtelocentric and three telocentric chromosomal pairs. The fundamental arm number (FN) was 118.

Wintertime aerosol optical properties and radiative forcing over rohtak

The present work was focused on analyzing the aerosol optical properties over Rohtak during winter season from December 2015 to February 2016 using sky-radiometer data. The results reveal that AOD shows strong spectral dependence. Higher value of AOD was observed during January at all wavelengths. The monthly mean AOD at 500 nm were found to be 0.44±0.23, 0.80±0.37 and 0.57±0.34 for December, January and February, respectively with seasonal average of 0.63±0.36.

A vertical compartmented hive designforreducingpost-harvest colony losses in three afrotropical stingless bee species (Apidae: Meliponinae)

Domestication of Meliponinae in log hive or simple box has often been used in Africa. However, colonyloss in these two hive types due to pest infestation after honey harvesting still occurs. We hypothesized that the two hive types were the probable causes for the infestations. We designed and assessed the hive acceptance andpostharvest colony losses of three Afrotropical Meliponinae namely Plebeina hildebrandti, Meliponula bocandei and two M. ferruginea morpho-speciesin a vertical compartmented hive (called the icipe-4M), as an alternative. We observed that P.

Assessment of physico-chemical quality of drinking water and water quality index in tribal Area of Dumbriguda Mandal, of Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh, India

The study was carried out in Dumbriguda Mandal by collecting and analysing the physic- chemical parameters of water samples (four open well, two bore and one spring) during April - October 2015. The results were compared with standards prescribed by WHO and ISO 10500-91.

Study of correlation coefficient and path analysis in cowpea [vigna Unguiculata (L.) Walp] germplasm line

The present experiment was conducted using 60 genotypes of cowpea to study their correlation and path analysis during kharif-2015. It can be concluded from these experiment findings that main yield contributing traits are biological yield per plant, number of pods per plant, number of flowers per plant, test weight, number of pods per cluster, pod length, number of seeds per pod, number of clusters per plant, harvest index and plant height due to their direct high positive association with seed yield.
