From Waste to resource: transforming rice husk and banana peel into Eco-Friendly paper plate

The study addressed the imperative challenge of waste reduction and environmental impact by proposing a novel approach to create eco-friendly paper plates from transformed rice husks and banana peels. The objective was to explore the viability of these agricultural and organic waste materials as alternative resources for paper plate production, mitigating environmental harm and fostering resource efficiency.

Development of plant-based cheesecake using fortifying vegetable ingredient

Unhealthy dietary habits in the Philippines, including the consumption of junk food, gave rise to health risks such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. In response, there was a growing interest in plant-based diets, which emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes and have been effective in managing conditions like type 2 diabetes. To address these health concerns, researchers developed a plant-based cheesecake as a nutritious and dairy-free dessert.

Eco-Fruit Soap: Fortification of sustainable soap zero from food waste as a pre-Cursor in Developing a Guidebook

This study addresses environmental concerns by enhancing a recycled food waste soap to improve its antimicrobial properties and pass physicochemical analysis. Researchers modified the sustainable soap formula by incorporating lemon peels, eggshell membrane, lemongrass essential oils, and various fruit peels. Laboratory testing confirmed that the mango and pineapple variations of the soap both met the standard pH levels for acceptable soap products, and their antimicrobial analysis demonstrated inhibitory activity against common bacteria.

Colchicine: The hero chemical in therapeutics

Colchicine is a phytochemical extracted commercially from two plants of the Colchicaceae family, Gloriosa superba (flame lily) and Colchicum autumnale (autumn crocus). One of the seven upavishas (semi-poisonous drugs) in Indian medicine, colchicine is claimed to treat a number of illnesses but can be lethal if administered improperly. Colchicine dosages greater than 10 mg in humans are always fatal within three days.

Optimisation and quality evaluation of finger millet incorporated nutri waffles

Waffles are convenient ready to eat foods made from leavened batter or dough that is cooked between two hot plates and is patterned to give a characteristic size, shape and surface impression. Utilisation of millets is restricted due to non-availability of processed foods in ready to eat form. Millets can be effectively utilised for developing value added products which can improve the overall diet quality. Hence, the present study was carried out to formulate nutritionally superior waffles with finger millet.

Streamlining data processing for safer autonomous Driving: A sensor pipeline appraoch

Autonomous vehicles have become the crux of today’s innovation and research. There are so many unidentified problems in the real-world scenario that the solutions can be endless. Many such companies who are marching on the way to define a perfect autonomous driving vehicle have also achieved level 3 or 4 of the SAE Driving Automation standard. Autonomous vehicles mainly rely on sensors which act as their senses to find their way and locate themselves in the environment and through traffic and various types of objects.

Effects of powdery formulations of essential oils against Magnaporthe oryzae B.C Couch, Rice blast pathogen and on the germination capacity of rice seed in Burkina Faso

Introdution: Fungi transmitted by Oryza sativa L rice seed cause considerable production losses. The aim of our work was to evaluate the effect of essential oil formulations against Magnaporthe oryzae and on the germination capacity of rice seeds. Contaminated rice seeds for antifungal tests and uncontaminated rice seeds for viability tests were coated in powdery formulations of essential oils of Lippia multiflora, Cymbopogon schoenanthus and Ocimum americanum in pure form and four of their combinations at a dose of 10g/kg of seed. A fungicidal control and a neutral control were used.
