Age factor effect on maximum molar bite force of individuals with down syndrome

To determine reference patterns of right (RMBF) and left (LMBF) maximum molar bite force of individuals with Down syndrome over the years and to compare them with individuals without Down syndrome. 100 individuals with Down syndrome were divided into age groups: 8-12 years (DSGI, n = 28), 13-20 years (DSGII, n = 30), 21-40 years (DSGIII, n = 29) and 41-60 years (DSGIV, n = 13). The Down syndrome age groups were matched subject to subject with their respective controls without Down syndrome (CGI, CGII, CGIII and CGIV). The RMBF and LMBF records were captured by digital dynamometer.

Fairy tales' effect on the articulation skills of three and four-year olds in private kindergartens and day care centers

Problem Statement: Fairy tales are the first literary works which children get to know in preschool. Fairy tales affect children's language development, improve their vocabulary, increase their grammatical knowledge, teach the correct pronunciation of words and enhance their articulation skills. Pre-service teachers’ self efficacy and the implementation of the kindergarten curriculum in Ghana

The study examined Pre-service teachers’ belief in their ability to implement the kindergarten Curriculum in Ghana. The descriptive survey design was employed. All 150 pre-service early childhood students in a last session of a post diploma sandwich programme at the University of Education, Winneba were involved in the study. A questionnaire with 55 items on a Likert-type scale was used to gather data. However, 136 questionnaires were retrieved. Means, standard deviation and ANOVA were used in analyzing data.

Impact of body mass index on fasting blood glucose in postmenopausal women

Objectives: To assess the relationship of body mass index with fasting blood glucose in postmenopausal women. Methods: The study was conducted on 100 postmenopausal women in the age group of 45-55 years. Subjects were divided into 3 subgroups normal, overweight and obese on the basis of BMI. Body weight and height was taken and BMI was calculated using Quetlet index. Blood samples were taken in the early morning after a minimum 8 hours of fasting and were investigated for fasting blood glucose. Data obtained was compiled and statistical analysis was done.

A case of soft tissue sarcoma of right forearm managed by groin flap

Soft tissue sarcomas constitute 1% of all adult malignancies. Of them 35% occurs in lower limbs and 15% occurs in trunks and 10% occurs in upper limbs .Here we present a middle patient with swelling over right forehand since 2 yrs, operated elsewhere 6 months back with recurrence. Wide local excision with a groin flap was done .Patient has been followed up regularly with adjuvant chemotherapy. A proper wide excision with reconstruction followed by physiotherapy can have better results with no functional deformity.

How power affects policy making process: using privatisation policy in Saudi Arabia as an example

The policies enacted in a country have a significant bearing in shaping service delivery to the people. Power significantly influences the establishment of policies such as health policy. This study will examine how power affects policy making process with close reference to the case study of Saudi Arabia's privatisation policy. In Saudi Arabia, major decisions preceding policy creation are crafted by the government in power. As such, power has a significant influence in defining policies affecting various sectors within the country.

Background: Ageing is universal, inevitable, irreversible slow process that results in detrimental changes in physiological function of most tissues and organ system. The number of aged is increasing rapidly. It carries important social and economic implications. The problems faced by aged persons are multiple, multi dimensional, not merely medical but socio-economical, emotional, psychological, rehabilitative and related to social security. The common morbidities due to ageing are cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, cataract, hearing impairment, etc.

Physiological variation of serum tsh (thyroid stimulating hormone) level in different mizaj

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone is secreted from the anterior pituitary and controls the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones from thyroid gland. Serum TSH level is the good indicator of thyroid functions and, is of great importance as a diagnostic tool in many thyroid disorders. Similarly in Unani medicine Mizaj is the indicator of domination or excess of a particular khilt in the body. Mizaj is considered as a diagnostic tool and also provide basis for pharmacotherapy.

State of art in nursing on using jean watson's theory of transpersonal care

Objective: To reflect about the state of the art in nursing as the use of Transpersonal Caring Theory of Jean Watson. Methods: Bibliometric study developed in the Virtual Health Library and the theses/dissertations database cataloged at the Center for Studies and Research in Nursing of the Brazilian Nursing Association, from 1999 to 2014, using the descriptor "Nursing" associated to the keywords "transpersonal care" and "Jean Watson." Data collection was conducted between May and June 2016.
