Influence of organic supplements as foliar spary on soil microbial population and yield of maize (zea mays)

To study the influence of foliar spraying of different organic compounds namely panchagavya, humic acid and kunapanjola on the yield of maize and their impacts on soil microbes after the harvest of the crop a field experiment was conducted at experimental farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Chidambaram. It was laid out in Randomized Block Design with eleven treatments and replicated thrice.

A study on secular attitude and attitude towards discipline among the professional college students in relation to certain selected variable

This study set to investigate the secular attitude and attitude towards discipline among the professional college students. This was with a view to ascertain the extent to which variable like gender, location of the residence and religion may influence the secular attitude and attitude towards discipline of the professional college students. A 972 item questionnaire was designed to elicit responses from the students. A random sample of 972 professional college students was chosen from 15 professional colleges within the rural and urban areas of Tamilnadu.

Studies on the physico-chemical analysis of Pichavaram Mangroves, Tamilnadu, India

The present study is aimed to analyse the physico-chemical parameters in two stations of Pichavaram mangroves. In the present study the physico-chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen and total dissolved solids were analysed during 2009. The station was selected for the present study (Station-1: Agricultural land and Station-2: Mud flats). The temperature, pH and salinity were increased during summer season and dissolved oxygen and total dissolved solids were lowered in summer season.

Predictive correlates of the knowledge of natural hazards and knowledge of eco-system

In the Present investigation, an attempt has been made to study the Predictive Correlates of the Knowledge of Natural Hazards and Knowledge of Eco-System of College Students in Madurai District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is found that 92.5% have average level of the knowledge of Natural Hazards and 79.5% of them have average level of the knowledge of Eco-System. Also it is found that the gender and locality caused no significant difference in respect of their knowledge of Natural Hazards whereas subject group caused significant difference in respect of their knowledge of Natural Hazards.

Study on instructional role perception of teachers working in college of education in relation to their value pattern

The instructional role perception of working college of education is high. The rank order preference of the different value pattern shows that the teachers working in college of education have given first preference for political value followed by religious, social, aesthetic, economic and theoretical value respectively.

The relationship between sexual violence and symptoms of sti among the self-identified kothis-men who have sex with men in Tamil Nadu, India

Kothis, a subgroup of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) constitute a high-risk group for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). This study examines the prevalence of sexual violence and the self-reported symptoms of STIs and explores the relationship between the two among the self-identified kothis in Tamil Nadu, India. The study used the data from District Level Communication Campaign (DLCC) Survey, 2010 with a sample of 328 kothis in Tamil Nadu.

Analysis of concentration and accumulation of heavy metal cadmium in four selected terrestrial plants

Contamination of soils with toxic metals has often resulted from human activities, especially those related to mining, industrial emissions, disposal or leakage of industrial wastes, application of sewage sludge to agricultural soils, manure, fertilizer and pesticide use. Phytoremediation is the term applied to a group of technologies that use of plants to reduce, remove, degrade, or immobilize environmental toxins, primarily those of anthropogenic origin with the aim of restoring area sites to conditions usable for private or public applications.

A study on the environmental knowledge of school teachers

The Present investigation has been under taken in order to study the environmental knowledge of school teachers in Cuddalore District. Environmental Knowledge of school teachers scale was constructed and validated by the investigators (2011) has been administrated to a random sample of 300 higher secondary school teachers. It is found that there is a significant difference between BT teachers and PGT teachers and there is no significant difference between male and female teachers, and school teachers in the rural and urban area on their environmental knowledge.

Exploring the relative relevance of home environment and teaching aptitude of b.ed trainee teachers

The present study is concerned in exploring the relative relevance of Home environment and Teaching aptitude of B.Ed trainee teachers of Union Territory of Pondicherry. The sample consisted of 805 B.Ed trainee teachers and the investigator adopted the survey method. The finding reveals that there is significant difference between male and female, married and unmarried trainee teachers in their nature of Home environment.
