Inga laurina (SW.) Willd. It is a species of woody habit, belonging to the Fabaceae family, whose seeds are polyembryonic therefore have the potential to regenerate new roots and even whole plants, even if part of its mass is removed. Thus the objective was to evaluate the effects of different forms of fractioning of I. laurina seeds and their influence on the germination process. The experiment was conducted at the Federal University of Paraíba, in a completely randomized experimental design.

Pigmentos bacterianos são bons substitutos de corantes sintéticos. Este trabalho produziu, extraiu e caracterizou piocianina de dois isolados selvagens de Pseudomonas aeruginosa cultivadas em King A suplementado com bagaço de malte de cevada 2% (m/v) e incubação sob agitação (29±1ºC – 72h). A extração com clorofórmio produziu cerca de 30 ml de solução de piocianina (585 µg/mL) com pureza alta. A concentração celular aumentou até 9,5 vezes e a máxima concentração de piocianina foi cerca de 1 µg/mL.h-1 (coeficiente de produção ≈240 µg/mL.UA-1).

Introdução:Ao passar dos anos, a população idosa vem crescendo devido ao aumento da sobrevida, assim, faz-se presente a introdução de seu papel em meio à sociedade.

The analysis of stomach contents is one of the few methods that provide information on food ecology and the trophic spectrum of fishes in their natural habitat. The aim of the present study was to investigate the food spectrum of Notarius grandicassis caught by the fishing fleet operating in estuaries in the state of Maranhão (Eastern Amazon). Biological material was obtained from artisanal fisheries in the study area. Sampling was conducted between April 2012 and August 2013 using driftnets with stretch mesh sizes from 40 to 120 mm.

Objetivo: identificar os fatores associados à reação hansênica dos casos notificados de hanseníase. Método: estudo analítico, realizado com 95 casos de hanseníase em menores de 15 anos, notificados nos anos de 2014 e 2015 em São Luís, Maranhão. Dados coletados por meio de entrevista e prontuário dos menores. Resultados: 21,1% dos casos apresentaram reação hansênica, sendo a neurite isolada a mais frequente.

A doença renal é considerada um grande problema de saúde pública, porque causa elevadas taxas de morbidade e mortalidade e, além disso, tem impacto negativo sobre a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde. Sendo assim, o estudo tem como Objetivo Geral analisar a conduta do enfermeiro frente a um caso de urgência e emergência hemodialítica e como Objetivos Específicos relacionar as principais dificuldades de adesão ao tratamento, identificar os sinais e sintomas de urgência hemodialítica e especificar os cuidados do enfermeiro ao paciente em urgência hemodiálitica.

This paper aims to present material for Science / Chemistry teaching through the characterization of rice husk ash. The rice husk ash has a significant amount of silica and potassium in its composition and in this perspective, the importance of working with these residual materials is highlighted, given its facilityfor obtaining and adapting to the didactic content of project-related subjects by aggregating technology and environmental issues.

Background: Novel coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, province of China has now been declared as one of the deadliest pandemics inflicting humankind in last hundred years. Method: In the present study, we have inferred the clinical, laboratory, radiological, and microbiological findings of five patients in a family cluster who presented with unexplained pneumonia after coming back from overseas and touchdown right here in India on 1st March 2020 earlier than lockdown and another member of the family who didn’tvisit thiscountry.

The aging is an important human phase that physiological, psychological and social changes are evidence. In view of these changes, some reactions like stress, anxiety and symptoms of depression can be increase in this population. In the search to decrease such reactions, some activities, such as, yoga, mental activities, pharmacological treatment and the practice of systematic physical activity are proposed. However, specifically in physical exercises, the optimal volume and intensity for such practice is still a topic under discussion.

In this study, a biodegradable alloy Zn-42Mg-4Ca alloy fabricated by powder metallurgy was evaluated. The idea was to create an alloy that could optimize the good behaviors of some recognized biocompatible elements as zinc, magnesium, and calcium. The alloy's corrosion resistancewas investigated, evaluating its biodegradation behavior in a simulated physiological environment and the potential-dynamic polarization curve.
