GC–MS analysis for compound identification in leaf extract of acanthus ilicifolius and evaluation of its in vitro anticancer effect against mcf-7 cell lines

The current study focused on GC-MS analysis for identification of bioactive compounds in leaf extract of mangrove plant, Acanthus ilicifolius leaf extract was tested for cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cell lines. The spectral properties (GC-MS) of each separated compound were determined and found the different compounds namely aziridine, alcohols, phenolic and fatty acid compounds. GC-MS analysis proved that the leaf extract of Acanthus ilicifolius contain a high content of ethanol compounds.

Association between coronary artery disease and polymorphisms in the attractin-like 1 protein and kinesin-like protein 6 genes

Background: It is postulated that, in animal models, the Attractin-like 1 protein (ATRNL1) gene is correlated to energy balance and homeostasis, however, there is no information on the influence of ATRL1 polymorphism (rs180706) in humans. Our objective was to evaluate associations between polymorphisms in the ATRNL1 (rs 180706) and KIF6 (rs 20455) genes and coronary artery disease (CAD). Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional and analytical study was carried out from November 2018 to June 2019 that enrolled patients with CAD according to coronary angiography.

Ferric status as a biochemical indicator associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Background: Epidemiological studies have shown that Diabetes Mellitus is an cronic inflammatory condition. The increased iron stores are associated with increased free radical formation, which contributes to the glucose intolerance and consequently diabetes type 2. The objective of this study was to evaluate the parameters of the ferric status in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: The study group consisted of 100 blood samples (50 males and 50 females) of healthy individuals and 69 blood samples (28 males and 41 females) from individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
