The present study aimed to analyze the knowledge of medical doctors and registered nurses on the use of Bundles and safe practices for prevention of nosocomial infections. This was an observational and descriptive study through the quantitative approach. The sample was composed of 13 healthcare providers, 4 medical doctors and 9 registered nurses who work in a Intensive Care Unit. Regarding the knowledge of Bundles, 60% of the doctors did know anything about them, plus 20% did not answer the question. In contrast, 66,7% of the nurses affirmed knowledge.

Background: Postoperative pain is very common in almost all surgeries. Its inadequate management will result in suffering, increased risk of morbidity and mortality, longer stay in hospital and higher cost. In most developed and developing countries, postoperative pain is not adequately managed. Objective: To assess the prevalence of postoperative pain and its management in Mekelle public hospitals. Methods: Institutional based cross sectional study was conducted from April to June 2017 among post-surgical patients (n =154).

Ability to work is a state of readiness that an individual presents in relation to their occupational requirements, their health conditions, physical and mental characteristics. The profession of military firefighter faces high demand of physical and mental commitment during activities. This article aims to estimate the Work Ability Index (WAI) of military firefighters and verify the factors that interfere in this index. This is a sectional study, with quantitative approach and based on primary data from a stratified sample of 192 firefighters.

Background: Sweet’s Syndrome that can lead to various inflammatory and neoplastic pathologies. The nurses providing care for clients with Sweet’s Syndrome present an educational challenge. The nurse must have adequate knowledge to prevent Sweet’s Syndrome and render proper care to the clients. Nurses should be efficient enough to prevent or minimize the complications or should prevent further worsening of symptoms. Within this context that this study was conducted with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of educational intervention module on Sweet’s Syndrome among the registered nurses.

This work aimed to analyze the degree of contamination of the masseter muscle during the skinning of bovines. For the study, 99 samples obtained through swabs of the masseter were collected at different phases during the slaughter, and seeded in plates for bacterial total count and coliforms. The set of samples with the highest contamination was collected immediately after the removal of the head. The high counts observed occurred mainly due to the contamination by contact of the masseter with the hide.

Objective: To evaluate the sociodemographic profile of patients who progressed to death from stroke and identify the mortality rate. Method: Cross-sectional study using data from the Mortality Information System. Estimates of rates of deaths and odds ratios (OR) of death from stroke were performed in comparison to other causes of deaths between 2000-2015.

This study evaluated the heavy metal content of ugu leaf (Telfaria occidentalis) collected from Eke Okigwe Market in Imo State, South Eastern Nigeria. The heavy metals including Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Manganese (Mn) and Lead (Pb) were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results revealed a significantly higher concentrations of Hg, Cd and Mn in T. occidentalis leaf beyond the World Health Organization (WHO) allowable limits of 0.001, 0.003 and 0.1435 mg/100g for Hg, Cd and Mn respectively (P<0.05). However, lead was not detected in the vegetable.
