Patient safety is a critical component, involving the prevention of errors and adverse effects associated with health care. This article synthesizes current literature to identify key factors influencing health care quality and evaluates successful patient safety strategies implemented across various health care settings.

Stethoscope hygiene practices among physicians and medical students at a public hospital in guyana: A Comparative study on knowledge, attitudes and microbial contamination

The study aimed to compare the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of doctors and medical students about stethoscope hygiene and investigate the microbial load and prevalence of MRSA on stethoscopes. This cross-sectional, experimental study surveyed 100 participants, including 50 doctors and 50 medical students, and used microbiological tests to determine the microbial load and presence of MRSA on the stethoscopes. The results showed that medical students had a significantly higher median bacterial load than doctors, and 8 stethoscopes were contaminated with MRSA.

Biometrics in healthcare as a technological contribution to mitigate patient identification errors: A Review

Biometrics are becoming essential and have been recommended as a technological method for identification due to its ability to provide unique verification of a person. Biometrics use physiological characteristics of the human’s body which were chosen because they usually do not change over a lifetime and cannot be duplicated or forgotten. Different biometrics technologies have proven to be applicable to solve the problems of duplicated patients’ records and assure a correct identity.

Placental hla-g expression among women living or not with HIV-1

Introduction: The immune checkpoint HLA-G molecule is highly expressed in the placenta’s extravillous trophoblast cells and has a pivotal role in immune tolerance during pregnancy. Since HIV-1 can infect trophoblast cells and may modify HLA-G expression to subvert host immune defenses, in this study we evaluated the HLA-G expression in third-trimester placental tissue of women living or not with HIV-1.

Factors influencing outcome in patients with perforated peptic ulcer disease at a South African Tertiary Hospital

Background: Perforated peptic ulcer (PPU) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, particularly in low to middle income countries. Orientações sobre as modificações do organismo durante a gestação

O presente estudo tem como objetivo principal demonstrar as literaturas disponíveis acerca das orientações sobre as modificações fisiológicas que ocorrem no organismo durante a gravidez. Além disso, tem como objetivo secundário auxiliar futuros estudos sobre a temática proposta. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, utilizando a metodologia qualitativa. Por meio da pesquisa nas bases de dados, foram encontrados 684 quando não aplicado os critérios de inclusão, obtendo apenas 3 trabalhos ao final da pesquisa.

This is a cross-sectional study carried out among individuals under monitoring at the State Reference Center for Diabetes Care and Endocrinology of Bahia, from November 2006 to February 2018.

Intubated Patients with acute Exacerbations of chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: What is Common risk factor for poor patient outcome?

Background: Approximately every fourth patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) will require intensive care unit (ICU) admission with further mechanical ventilation (MV) and therefore with high risk for development ventilator- associated pneumonia (VAP). Aim: The study was aimed to learn risk factors predicting in-hospital mortality among patients with AE COPD associated with VAP and to evaluate the modifiable risk factors in term on improvement of patient outcomes.
