Effect of laser therapy in periodontal surgeries: a systematic review

Photodynamic therapy in periodontics is used to obtain antimicrobial effects and also to assist in the healing process by acting on tissue healing and regeneration after performing surgical procedures. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate in the scientific literature the effectiveness of using laser therapy in the surgical approach of periodontal procedures. A systematic review of the literature was performed using the Scopus, Science Direct, Embase, Cochrane Collaboration Library, and PubMed/ MEDLINE databases.

Perfil epidemiológico das internações de adultos por emergências clínicas em um hospital público em coari-amazonas

Resumo Purpose: To characterize the epidemiological profile of hospitalizations of adults by clinical emergencies in a public hospital in Coari in Amazonas state. Methods: Study with a quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive-exploratory approach with the collection of secondary data in medical records which were printed, archived and stored in the statistics department of the hospital unit. Results: A total of 234 medical records were used for this study which includes clinical diagnosis in adults aged 19 to 59 years, between September and December 2017.

Gungsun point (BP4) effect on fibromyalgia treatment

Objective: Demonstrate BP4 stimulation can treat meridian diseases related to Chong Mai, including FMS. Methods: Prospective, control case, randomized, with “crossing over”; 69 female, older than 21 years, with FMS, also diagnosed by researchers with curious meridian Yang Qiao Mai affection, divided into four groups: Group 1 - 3 sessions in BP4 / 3 sessions with simulation (S); Group 2 - 3 sessions with S / 3 sessions in BP4; Group 3 - 3 sessions in B62-Loc.1; Group 4 - 3 sessions in B62-Loc.2, weekly, for 3 to 6 weeks.

Análise da evolução de tuberculose no estado do maranhão, Brasil: uma análise epidemiológica e temporal dos casos

Introdução: A tuberculose, causada pela bactéria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, é considerada um grave problema de saúde pública no mundo, e no Brasil, especialmente no estado do Maranhão é crescente as notificações. É considerada uma doença determinada por fatores sociais que eleva a vulnerabilidade em saúde da população. Objetivo: Analisar o perfil epidemiológico dos casos de Tuberculose notificados no Estado do Maranhão, entre os anos de2010 e 2019.

Use of melatonin as a low cost treatment in fibromyalgia

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, synthesized from tryptophan and derived from serotonin by replacing the hydroxyl group with methoxy, after enzymatic transformations. It is released in the absence of light, signaling the existence and alternation between light / dark and the seasons. This work aims to understand the role and function of melatonin as an antinociceptive agent. The methodology used consisted of research in works published on Scielo, Bireme and Periodicals CAPES websites.

Evaluation of insulin therapy education in diabetic patients accompanied in a specialty center

Introduction: Insulin therapy for glycemic control, in addition to its indication for DM1, is increasingly being detected as a treatment option for DM2. Use of barbatimão (STRYPHNODENDRON ADSTRINGENS) in the treatment of odontogenic cervical necrotizing fasciitis: A case report

Childhood pneumonia and factors associated with the causes of hospital readmission

Objective: To identify factors associated with the causes of previous hospitalization of children with pneumonia. Methods: Cross-sectional, quantitative, analytical study, realized in a pediatric hospital in Ponta Grossa, Paraná, Brazil. Children between zero and 12 years old, hospitalized for pneumonia in the months of May to September 2015 were investigated about previous hospitalizations.
