Surgical management of unicystic ameloblastoma: conservative or radical approach: a systematic review

Unicystic ameloblastoma is a benign epithelial odontogenic neoplasm that represents about 5 to 15% of all intraosseous ameloblastomas, its biological behavior is related to its histopathological subtypes, with the mural variant being the most aggressive. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate in the scientific literature the effectiveness of the conservative and radical surgical approach in the treatment of unicysticameloblastomas. A systematic literature review was performed using the Science Direct, Embase, Cochrane Collaboration Library, and PubMed/MEDLINE databases.

Leptospirosis in vulnerable populations: a brief review

Leptospirosis is a zoonosis classified as a tropical neglected disease which mainly affects populations of peripheral areas and with low socioeconomic level. Disease epidemiology has socioenvironmental aspect and complex pathogeny, presenting expressive lethality in developing countries, emphasizing the tight connection with vulnerability. Disease has already been reported in vulnerable population such as indigenous communities, homeless and peripheral communities since these groups are exposed to main risk factors of disease.

Preparedness for fire outbreak in boarding secondary schools in Nyamira County, Kenya

Background: Fire disasters in secondary schools lead to deaths and destruction of property. Consequently, there is a need to identify the causes and also evaluate the preparedness for fire outbreaks. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used to investigate the causes of fire outbreak and evaluated the level of preparedness for fire outbreak in boarding secondary schools in Nyamira County, Kenya. Purposive sampling method was used to select 50 principals and 5 Sub-county educational officers from the schools.

Desastres naturais e seus impactos na Saúde: Uma revisão integrativa da literatura

Objetivo: Analisar as publicações científicas sobre Desastres Naturais (DN) e seus impactos na saúde coletiva. Método: -se de uma Revisão Integrativa da Literatura, realizada nas bases de dadoscientíficas. Foram elencados nove artigos completos,publicados entre 2009 a 2019. Resultados: A análise da literatura possibilitou a elaboração de três categorias pautadas em pontos relevantes, a saber: Categoria 1- DN e suas repercussões sobre a qualidade de vida da população atingida, Categoria 2 – Prevenção de doenças em cenários de catástrofes e Categoria 3 – Políticas públicas relacionadas à DN.

Epigenetic factors in the evaluation of micronucleus frequency in basal cells of the uterine mucosa

Cervical cancer is a tumor which begins in the basal cells of the epithelium lining the uterine cervix, being responsible for approximately 500 thousand new cases in the world each year, becoming also responsible for 230 thousand deaths among women. The research aims to investigate which epigenetic factors interfere in the assessment of the frequency of micronuclei in basal cells of the uterine mucosa. This is an experimental study carried out after approval by the ethics and research committee with the number: 3,679,998.

Prevalence and factors associated with metabolic syndrome in climacteric women

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its association with sociodemographic, behavioral, reproductive and clinical factors in climacteric women. Methods: Cross-sectional and analytical study with probabilistic cluster sampling. The study included 874 women, aged between 40 and 65 years, registered in 73 Family Health Strategy units in the city of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data were obtained through questionnaires, anthropometric evaluation and blood collection. For statistical analysis, the hierarchical Poisson regression model was adopted.

Social representations of women in prison facing the diagnosis of syphilis

Objective: To know the social representations of women in deprivation of liberty in the face of the diagnosis of syphilis. Method: the study was carried out at the Santa Luzia Female Prison, located in Maceió, Alagoas, from July to December 2017. For data collection, the semi-structured interview technique, guided by an interview form, was applied. The discussion of the results obtained was built from the thematic categorization by the technique of content analysis in interrelation with the Theory of Social Representations.
