Relationship between various anthropometric indicators used for obesity measurement among college going girls of Agra

Context: Obesity has escalated to an alarming proportion in the last twenty years. It is currently the most preventable nutritional disease of the 21st century.  
Aims: 1. To find out the prevalence of obesity according to different anthropometric indicators among college going girls of Agra. 2.  To study their correlation matrix.
Study design: Cross sectional study.
Setting: Degree colleges of Agra
Study period:  January to June 2009
Sample size: 400 college going girls of 18-24 years.

Lead reproductive toxicity and modulator role of mango wastes extracts in mice

Lead is an environmental metal known as reproductive toxicant. Mango wastes are a good source of potential antioxidants. The current study was carried out to examine the modulatory role of mango peel (MPE) and kernel (MKE) extracts against lead   productive toxicity in mice. The following endpoints were studied: sperm DNA damage, histopathological changes in testes as well as male–mediated toxicity in non-treated female mice mated with Pb-acetate-treated  males and their offspring.

A comparative study to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among parents residing in selected rural and urban areas of Jalandhar, Punjab

A child is a tender human being which needs support in all forms for its all-round development. It is very pathetic that many parents unknowingly abuse their child sometimes. They do not differentiate between the methods of disciplining the child and the form of abuse and neglect. The present study aimed to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among parents residing in selected rural and urban areas of Jalandhar, Punjab. A quantitative research approach and comparative research design was used and study was carried out in selected rural and urban areas in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Tuberculosis of the talus bone

A 14-year-old boy came to our outpatient department with a 3-months history of swelling and pain on his left ankle. On laboratory evaluation, he only had an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate. X-ray showed an extensive lytic lesion of the talus bone. Chest radiograph was normal. The Mantoux skin test was negative. Histological examination of the    biopsy tissue showed granuloma and caseating necrosis of tuberculosis. Talectomy with 6 months of antituberculous course resulted in a good clinical outcome.

Study on menopausal symptoms among women residing in urban and rural areas

Background: Menopausal symptoms are experienced by almost every woman during their menopausal transitions. Menopausal symptoms are categorized into physical and psychological menopausal symptoms. It includes, night sweats, hot flushes, unusual tiredness, depression, mood swings, loss of sexual urge, frustration and other behavioural changes are also seen. The objectives of the study were to assess and compare the menopausal symptoms, and its association with selected socio-demographic variables among women residing urban and rural areas of district Ludhiana, Punjab.

Envisioning the role of Indian dentists in conducting rapid hiv testing for early detection of HIV

Early diagnosis of HIV/AIDS is one of the most crucial aspects for an infected individual, as well as being a key public health issue. Research indicates that there were an estimated 2,088,638 people living with HIV in India and that most of the estimated HIV-infected individuals in India remain undiagnosed. Since a large proportion of the population is present at oral healthcare settings for regular checkups, expanding HIV testing to such settings could benefit patients in terms of early detection and, consequently, more timely treatment.

Situation of active teaching, deep learning and motivation (atdlm) in counseling classes at the university of Guilan, Iran

This study examined Active Teaching and Deep Learning (ATDL) in counselling classes in the University of Guilan, Faculty of Humanities, Iran. Questionnaires were distributed to 150 counselling students across the Faculty of Humanities through a random sampling methodfrom the population. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was calculated by using Coronbach Alpha and it was found to be 0.80. Also a semi-structured interview was used to complete information about the active teaching and deep learning to 7 academic staff members.

The importance of using correct health professional at correct place for effective healthcare is known by many healthcare professional. Insufficient nurse staff causes many negative effects, such as extension of patient hospitalization and increase in hospital infections and even death rates. This study aims to classify the patients hospitalized at AHG, calculate the patient care coefficients every floor or section, monitor necessary nurse numbers on the system, orient nurses to units in need when necessary, and thus, increase patient and employee satisfaction.
