Background: India has the dubious distinction of having the highest estimated number of maternal deaths in any country. In addition to the number of death each year. Over 50 million women suffer from maternal morbidity due to acute complications from pregnancy. For effective implementation of the programme understanding of the factors affecting the utilization of maternity care during pregnancy is required.
To study the correlation and regression equations for some economic traits as Body weight, length, keel length, dressing percentage, carcass weight, breast and legs weights on Broiler Ross308 fed on different levels of parsley oil. 200 chicks one day old were reared till 35 days, grouped for four nutrient treatments 50 chick/treatment 2 replicates as (T1 control group without parsley oil, T2 nutrient with 15% parsley oil, T3 nutrient with 30% parsley oil and T4 nutrient with 45% parsley oil).
An investigation on possible regulation of antianxiety- like activity of amino guanidine in stressed mice by nitric oxide: cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO: cGMP) modulation was made. Stressed mice were administered with amino guanidine and tested on elevated plus maze and light/dark box. NO: cGMP modulators (L-arginine, Methylene blue, Bay-607550, 8-Br-cGMP) were administered as pre-treatments in the separate groups of amino guanidine- treated stressed mice and modulation of the noted effect of amino guanidine in stressed mice was observed.
Accidents are the largest single cause of death after the age of one year and are one of the serious health problems facing the world today. Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death among toddlers. The aims of this study were i) to assess women’s knowledge about the nature and type of most commonly found unintentional domestic accidents among toddlers. ii) to assess the knowledge of women regarding first aid measures against domestic accidents among toddlers. iii) to assess the knowledge of women regarding prevention of domestic accidents among toddlers.
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate nutrient availability and body composition of semi scavenging Giribaz pigeon. The average DM, CP, CF, EE, ash, NFE, Ca and Av. P in crop and gizzard contents of male and female pigeon were 716.75, 108.50, 50.55, 15.90, 49.60, 574.25, 0.54 and 0.22 g/kg, respectively. The ME contents was 14.20 MJ/kg DM. The average live weight was 297.30g for male pigeon and 267.70g for female pigeon.
The possibilities and the results of treatment of patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, treated in the ENT Clinic, University Hospital "Tsaritsa Yoanna" for a period of three years were investigated.
Undergraduate students are prone to stress due to traditional character of university life. High levels of stress are believed to affect students’ health and academic function. However, effective coping strategies may assist the return to a balance state, reducing the negative effects of stress. The aim of this study was to determine the level of stress, source of stress and coping strategies adopted by the students. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study in which 400 stress survey questionnaires were distributed to the students of selected faculties.
Ciliary beat frequency is an important component of mucociliary clearance. Our aim was to test the hypothesis that hyperosmotic stress reduces ciliary beat frequency and that this reduction can be influenced by protein kinase A manipulation in vitro. Using ciliated nasal epithelial cells ciliary beat frequency was measured at 32oC under different osmotic conditions with or without protein kinase A manipulation. In isoosmotic media at 32oC protein kinase A activation stabilised ciliary beat frequency near baseline and its inhibition significantly reduced ciliary beat frequency.
In 1914, approximately 1.6 billion people lived on the earth surface. By the year 1955, that number had grown to 5.7 billion. Today, in 2015, the world population is approaching 7.2 billion people. Each year, the human race is expected to increase by nearly 100 million, necessitating the need for more food production, especially of quality animal protein.
