Effects of solanum melongena in the metabolic profile of wistar rats

The industrial revolution led to profound modifications in the lifestyle and increased the percentages of obesity, insulin resistance/Diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension that augment the risk of developing Cardiovascular Diseases (CD). Solanummelongena (eggplant) is popularly much used with the purpose of reducing lipid levels. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the eggplant on the metabolic profile of Wistar rats. The animals were treated with eggplant floor mixed with the commercial rat chow for 45 days.

Determination of the optimal solution through heuristics to a problem of multi-location installation lifeguard stations

Occur worldwide annually 372,000 deaths can be prevented, which may be considered as one of the diseases with the greatest impact, both in health and in the world economy. However, it is estimated that the possibility of death by drowning while on a beach protected by lifeguard is 1 in 18 million, thus making the location of the rescue stations an important point connected to response-time.

Can seeds of joannesia princeps improve intestinal motility in loperamide-induced constipation in rats?

Constipation may be considered a public health problem leading to harmful interference on the quality of life. Its prevalence varies from 0.7% to 81% worldwide and may affect adults and children. It is usually treated with laxative drugs. Joannesia princeps is a plant used in popular medicine as a laxative. This work aims to evaluate the potential of J. princeps in reversing the constipation effects produced by loperamide. Animals were divided in Group 1 (Control group that received propylene glycol), Group 2 (treated with J.

Forecasting modeling with kernel function integration in gaussian processes

This research proposes to design a kernel within a Gaussian process for finding and learning patterns from data attributes that fit the structure of time series data. No external variables needed. In Gaussian processes, researchers do not need to modify the algorithm's layout at all when the function of the problem converts. So what to do just to modify the function or kernel function to suit the problem. The kernel functions in each of the Gaussian process types affect the different models of time-varying functions.

Efficacy of auriculo therapy in improving sleep quality in university students

The research aimed to evaluate the quality of sleep in university students after intervention with Auriculotherapy. This is a convenience sample study composed of forty students from the initial periods of the bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy at the Centro Universitário Santo Agostinho. Four atrial acupuncture interventions were performed with metal spheres applied at the shenmen, heart, adrenal, and neurasthenia sites. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). For statistical analysis, the SPSS program was used in version 20.0.

Environmental impact of hospital sewage in sub-average são francisco valley

This study aims to map the environmental impact in the valley lower basin of the São Francisco river, caused by liquid waste from the sewage and wastewater from two hospitals located in the cities of Juazeiro / BA and Petrolina / PE, identifying the composition of the waste and its potential risk to health and environment and can affect local population and quality of water supplied population and irrigation.

The combination of established costing methods generating a new method called cra (cost-restriction-analysis)

This article is based on the premise that the simplification in the use of costing methods is an alternative to the use by small business. Combining internationally recognized methods, it was possible to create a new methodology for calculating production costs, identifying constraints on production and time-based analysis.

Effect of split application of nitrogen on the growth and yield of bitter gourd (Momordica Charantia)

Plant nutrition at optimum quantity is essential for sustainable crop yield. Among all plant nutrients, nitrogen occupies a significant position. Therefore its balanced rate and timings for higher yield of crop plants needs to be investigated. The experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of split N application on the growth and yield of bitter gourd. The field trial was laid out in a three replicated Randomized Complete Block Design at the experimental field of Horticulture Department, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam having plot size of 5.0 m x 6.0 m (30 m2).

Interaction between solvent-solvent molecules in a tertiary mixture at different temperatures by ultrasonic technique

The basic parameters like viscosity (η), density (ρ) and velocity (U) can be measured by ultrasonic Interferometer. From these three parameters various thermodynamical and acoustical parameters such as specific acoustic impedance (Z), Intermolecular free length (Lf), adiabatic compressibility ‘s (β) etc can be estimated using standard relations from measured values of Ultrasonic viscosities, densities and velocities in the wide range of concentrations at 350 C, 400C and 450C temperatures for Acetone + Propanol-2 +chloroform tertiary system.

Evaluation of naturally occurring radionuclide in soil samples from pandogari mining sites in Niger State, Nigeria

This study presents results of Activity Concentrations, Absorbed dose rate and the Annual Effective dose rates of naturally occurring radionuclides (40K, 232Th and 226Ra) absorbed in 7 soil samples collected from different areas within the Pandogari mining sites in Niger State, North Central Nigeria. A laboratory γ-ray spectrometry NaI (Tl) at the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, was used to carry out the analysis of the soil samples.
