Analfabetism under the demographic approach: A case study in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Brazil committed itself to reducing its illiteracy rate by at least 50% by 2015 by agreeing to the Dakar Framework for Action, Education for All: Meeting our Commitments, thus, the present work aims to present the demographic projection of the illiteracy in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in order to analyze compliance with the reduction.

On numerical solutions of fuzzy differential equations

Controlling After being introduced by Chang and Zadeh, the topic of Fuzzy Differential Equations has been attracting a rapidly growing number of researchers in recent decades. In this paper some numerical algorithms for fuzzy ordinary differential equations are considered. Schemes for the classical Euler method, Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM), and Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM) are discussed; this is followed by an error analysis.

The use of information technology in health: Collection and analysis of data on research with the elderly

Alternative methods such as the use of technologies that will facilitate research and extension are on the rise. An example is the application of electronic tools focused on information technology, mainly in quantitative delineation research, since these have the objective of analyzing facts or phenomena through numerical data, using collection instruments such as questionnaires and forms.

Use of body culture in integral development in physical education classes

This article aims to understand the relationship between pedagogical approaches in Physical Education and the improvement in school discipline, as well as the gains in the teaching and learning process. In order to carry out this study the methodology used was literature review and practical application of a pedagogical approach called functional playground with games and activities in a school in the city of São Paulo, with ten classes of elementary level.

Study of the immune system of mosquitoes against insecticides: enzymatic activities and genetic mutation in anopheles gambiae populations at natitingou, north-east of Benin

In order to study the immune system of mosquitoes against the use of insecticides in their ecological environment, a study has been carried out on the enzymatic activities and genetic mutation in Anopheles gambiae populations in the district of Natitingou, northern Benin from January to May 2016. Bioassay tests to assess the susceptibility of malaria vectors were done where females of An. gambiae aged to 2-5 were subjected to insecticide-impregnated papers (permethrin 0.75%, delthamethrin 0.05%, DDT 4%, and bendiocarb 0.1%) following WHO testing protocol.

Selection of mathematical modelling for forecasting of rice production in Assam, India

The role of rice is vital in the development of economy of Assam as well as India. Forecasting of rice production by using time series analysis techniques may be helpful to find out the best fitted model to forecast the production of rice in Assam. Prediction of rice production in near future will help the authority to adopt appropriate strategy to tackle the management of economy related to rice production.

Crafts, design and materials engineering, a possible dialogue

The interaction between Materials Engineering, Design and Social Sciences was the key point for the development of this article. The article evidences the planning, development and insertion of a new composite in the productive chain of a small family company, from empirical techniques, in the production of sacred artifacts in plaster. The developed composite comes from the combination of a brewing residue (diatomaceous earth) and plaster.

Access control scheme to big data using privacy preserving policy

Controlling the access to a huge amount of big data becomes a very challenging issue, especially when big data are stored in the cloud. Ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) is a encouraging encryption technique that helps end-users to encrypt their data under the access policies defined over some attributes of data consumers and only allows data consumers whose attributes satisfy the access policies to decrypt the data. In CP-ABE, the access policy is attached to the ciphertext in plaintext form, which may also leak some private information about end-users.

Intelligent technologies for automatic interpretation of interactions between apprentice and virtual learning environment

Nowadays there has been a significant increase in the use of Information Technologies (IT) in education, especially in distance education (DE), in which the use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) is very common. However, in such environments it is difficult the teacher to observe the state of attention as well as the satisfaction of an apprentice with respect to the content presented to him, unlike what occurs in face-to-face teaching. In view of this, many researchers have invested in the development ofintelligent technologies that can help in this task.
