Pathway construction of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIPD): a neurodegenerative disease

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a form of peripheral neuropathy, often difficult to diagnose. It’s an auto immune disorder, due to subtle occurrence, this disease is not much studied and mostly people are unaware of symptoms and cause. In this paper protein interaction map has been constructed that shows the relationship of CIDP disease with other neurological diseases and also nature of protein interaction. The proteins responsible for the disease (CIDP) were identified using extensive literature survey, Uni Prot and KEGG databases.

Genetic improvement of some attributes agronomic in roselle (Malvaceae) with gamma radiation of 60co

In order to determine the effect of eleven levels of 60Co gamma radiation on some agronomic attributes of Jamaica, seeds were irradiated in Transelektro LGI-01 model at the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Nucleares. The plants were planted in black polyethylene bags of 5 kg capacity, using as substrate tezontle red and using the Steiner nutrient solution.

A review on pulmonary-renal syndromes

Pulmonary-renal syndromes are a group of disorders characterized by necrotizing glomerulo nephritis and pulmonary hemorrhage. The coexistence of circulating anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) and anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease in children affected by this syndrome is exponential; with unfavorable out come in five out of seven patients reported to date. We describe a child with PRS associated both circulating anti-myeloperoxidase (anti-MPO) ANCA and anti-GBM disease on renal biopsy who was successfully treated with immunosuppressive therapy.

EVALUATION OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDERS IN PARTIALLY EDENTULOUS PATIENTS

Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a collective term given to a number of clinical problems that involve the masticatory musculature, the temporomandibular joints and associated structures, or both.Aim: to assess various TMJ dysfunction signs among the partially edentulous patients.
Methodology: Temporomandibular disorders investigation was performed on 300 partially edentulous individuals, (162 females and 138 males) aged between 25-60 years, the study conducted by clinical examination of temporomandibular joint and associated structure.

Knowledge and perception of women of child bearing age in ibadan north local government area about breast cancer

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women both in the developed and less developed countries. Adequate information about the disease could promote early detection and prompt intervention. However, despite the various awareness campaign instituted by governmental and non-governmental bodies, its incidence continues to increase. Therefore, the study assessed the knowledge of child-bearing women in Ibadan North Local Government (IBNLG) Nigeria concerning breast cancer.

Ability, specific knowledge, self-regulation, epistemological beliefs, versus motivation to performance of physiotherapy students

Background: Case-based learning (CBL) is being utilized in medicine, nursing, and physiotherapy educational programs as a method to improve problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making. Although the use of CBL has increased, the student characteristics that predict performance during case-based instruction have not yet been determined.

Two crucial approaches in contemporary developmental and evolutionary genetics

Relationships among genes, not individual alleles, are basic units of developmental information, targets of inheritance and selection. The smallest functional combination of an allele is the ratio with other alleles in a polygenic system, and amount of homo- and heterozygous relationships could determine especially the development of quantitative characters, as well as their adaptive response to natural selection, without changing the basic structure of a population.

Co-relation of pulmonary function test and chest x- rays in biomass fuel user in rural area of south India

Indoor air pollution from burning of traditional biomass fuel such as wood, dung, and agricultural wastes for daily household cooking is a major problem in rural India. Although it is known that biomass smoke contains a wide spectrum of potentially toxic compounds, its effect on public health is relatively unexplored. In view of this, the health impact of biomass fuel use in rural India has been evaluated in this study.

Hartshill fixation system or pedicle screw fixation system? - a retrospective comparative study of posterior spinal fixation methods

Spine injuries is a serious medical condition that has a major impact on the quality of life of the patient. Although there is a varying consensus among treating physicians, surgical fixation of a traumatic fracture of the thoracic or lumbar spine is considered necessary if axial and rotational stability is severely impaired or if a neurologic deficit is present or imminent. Considerable controversy exists regarding the clinical performance of different instrumentation systems for the surgical treatment of unstable fractures of the thoracolumbar spine.

The allelochemicals of eucalyptus maidenii essential oil and its potential as natural herbicide

This study aimed to explore the allelopathic potential of Eucalyptus maidenii on seed germination, root and shoot length, membrane integrity, malondialdehyde (MDA) and proline content of Triticum durum, Vicia faba, Phaseolus vulgaris, Sinapis arvensis, Erica vesicaria and Scorpiurus muricatus and its application as naturally occurring herbicide in the field. Allelopathic compounds were identified using chromatography mass analysis. Dose-response studies were carried under laboratory and greenhouse conditions.
