Correlation between patients knowledge and practice mean percent of scores through health education program on diabetic patients in Khartoum State

Background: The study population were consisted of 150 non-insulin depended patients who were chosen randomly from two diabetic clinic centers in Khartoum state divided into two groups an intervention and control group (75 patients for each group).
Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate effect of health education program on Patients Knowledge and Practice through health education program.

Individual and family self-management theory–implication for asthmatics

Chronic illness and its impact on the indiciduals in all the dimensions of health is linked with poor quality of life. Hence Nurses and other health care professionals must play an vital role in educating the individual and the family about self management plans and which improves their health outcomes. Hence the investigator applied Indicidual and self management theory among the asthmatics in order to improve their well-being and change their health behaviour pattern and reduce their visit to the health care.

Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma: A case report and review of literature

Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma, also called juvenile aponeurotic fibroma or Keasbey tumour, is a rare slow growing myofibroblastic tumour. It is most commonly seen in children and young adults in the extremities like the hand or foot. This tumour has a 50% chance for recurrence. This is a case of a 22 year old girl who presented with a swelling in the dorsal aspect of right index finger since 1 year.

Beliefs among Swazi men on male circumcision and hivmitigation

About 20% of men globally and 35% in developing countries are circumcised for religious, cultural, medical and a variety of other reasons. Research has revealed that male circumcision reduces the risk of contracting HIV by 60%. Swaziland has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates globally. The purpose of this study was to determine Swazi men’s beliefs on male circumcision in relation to HIV. The study utilized an exploratory descriptive design. It was conducted in Matsapha at the Litsemba Letfu Men’s Clinic, Swaziland. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 10participants.

Experience with splenic trauma in jeevan jyoti hospital, Allahabad, U.P. India

This study was carried out to estimate the prevalence, severity and mode of splenic trauma and management technique from amongst the abdominal trauma cases admitted in Department of surgery, Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, Allahabad.  Methods: The study was carried out at Surgery Department of Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India from March 2014 to Aug 2015.  One hundred thirty consecutive abdominal trauma patients admitted to surgery department were included in the study. Their injuries were classified; treatment strategies outlined and complications were documented.

Response of mung bean [Vigna radiata (l.)] to fym and zinc-enriched fym in loamy sand soil of Jobner

A field experiment was conducted on loamy sand soil (Typic Ustipasament) to find out the effect of zinc-enriched FYM on growth parameter, protein content, nutrient uptake, yield and yield attributes of mungbean during 2012-13. The total and effective number of nodules, total chlorophyll content, plant height and number of branches was significantly increased by 24.09, 25.53, 16.59, 26.55 and 29.36 % respectively under EnZn2 over control (Zn0) and it was at par with EnZn3. The increasing in yield due to enrichment was achieved by 9.04 % over straight application of zinc in mungbean.

A study of prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the middle aged women of Guntur City, A.P

Introduction: Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) has received lot of attention because of it’s growing association with obesity and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease among women population. Central obesity, a physical finding plays a central role in the development of the Insulin Resistance (MetS). Central obesity appears to precede the other components of MetS, which increases with age. Women in this coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh prepare and consume delicious food items, mostly of rice and have tendency to become obese in forties.

Ecological study of the vegetation of the Douala Edea wildlife reserve in Cameroon

The Douala-Edea Wildlife reserve is situated in the Littoral region, specifically in the Sanaga Maritime Department. The study aims to characterize the plant diversity of the reserve. This study was conducted in three phases, the rapid botanic survey, a botanical inventory of the reserve; and species identification in the herabarium. The methodology used combined the quadrants to achieve the botanical inventories, as well as surveys and field visits. The forest of the Douala-Edea reserve is rich and diverse, 435 species and 76 families were identified. This potential varies with facies.

The rising tide of gestational diabetes mellitus

Gestational diabetes mellitus refers to any degree of glucose intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy .Gestational diabetes mellitus most of which progress to type 2 diabetes mellitus is increasing worldwide. It predisposes mother and offspring to increased risk of complication during pregnancy. In addition to the clinical reasons for attention to hyperglycemia during pregnancy, the future of the reproductive aged woman with GDM as well as the future of her offspring is two important public health issues that are receiving increasing recognition.
