Thyroid function in pediatric nephrotic syndrome: a hospital based observational study

Background: Nephrotic syndrome is a condition which is characterised by proteinurea, hypoprotenemia, hyperchlolesterolemia and significant edema. In children with nephrotic syndrome, it is probable to determine a hypothyroid state because of significant loss of thyroxine (T4), tri-iodothyronine (T3) and thyroid-binding globulin in presence of proteinuria.
Objectives: To determine the  thyroid function test  in pediatric cases of nephrotic syndrome, and to find any association and impact on thyroid harmone levels in these patients.

Study of congenital pouch colon anomaly in Ahmedabad region

Background: Congenital pouch colon is an unusual abnormality of like dilation of shortened colon, associated with Ano-rectal malformation. The clinical and radiological details of this condition have been described in detail and are well established, but there is a lack of consensus regarding management protocol.
Objective: To study the epidemiology of pouch colon anomaly, analyze various modes of presentation. To see various anomalies associated and to evaluate the outcome of various surgical modalities.

Health and medical status of pregnant women from 2 socio-economic strata from Mumbai City

The nutritional status of women when becoming pregnant and during pregnancy can have significant influence on foetus. Micronutrient deficiencies could lead to poor maternal health outcomes and pregnancy complications. Poor maternal weight gain in pregnancy due to an inadequate diet increases the risk of complications. A pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect information regarding medical history and supplementation from 100 pregnant women. Overall (27%) women were underweight, (54%) normal weight, (16%) overweight and (3%) obese.

The effect of smoking cigarette on kidney functions among sundaes peoples

There are numerous harmful substances found in tobacco and tobacco smoke. Nicotine is one of these substances that may be acquired through active and passive smoking. In man nicotine is commonly consumed via smoking cigarettes. Therefore, the aim of this study is to elucidate whether smoking has effects on kidney functions in Sudanese young students. Eighty subjects were included in this study, 40 none smoking males as the control group (healthy males) and the other 40 as smoker group, whom smoking more than 12 cigarette /day.

Clinico-demographic profile of NEI Ares admitted with hyperbilirubinemia in GB pant hospital Kashmir

Aims and Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the occurrence, etiological and other associated  factors of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in GB Pant hospital, Kashmir. Jaundice is a common problem in neonatology. Early recognition of the cause of  jaundice is very important as delay in management may lead to serious complications or even death.

The role of cardiopulmonary bypass on the early postoperative IGG levels: effect on the postoperative outcome in cardiac surgery patients

Objective: This study tried to elucidate the role of the cardiopulmonary bypass on the early postoperative immunoglobulin G levels and any probable effects on the postoperative outcome of the patients.
Methods: 99 consecutive patients were studied. The evening after surgery the level of the IgG was obtained. The postoperative course of each patient during the first three days was followed. One way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis.

Health education program to maintain a reasonable body weight and control of blood glucose levels among diabetic patients in Khartoum diabetic care centers

Background: A total of 150diabetic patients were selected retrospectively from Khartoum State Diabetic Care Centers, this group divided to two equal groups, had been analyzed using the knowledge and practice of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients after implementation of health education program. Group (cases) the program was implemented and the other group was considered as a control (75 patients for each group).

Correction of foot care practice between the intervention and control groups throughout the health education program

Background: A total of 150diabetic patients were selected retrospectively from Khartoum State Diabetic Care Centers, this group divided to two equal groups, had been analyzed using the certain risk factors of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients after implementation of health education program. Group (cases) the program was implemented and the other group was considered as a control (75 patients for each group).

Toxopathological effects of henna (Lawsoniainermis) on rats organs

The henna leaf solution is important plant in veterinary medicine for treating of some cases in farm animals like wound healing, constipation and other internal or external conditions, especially when they are resistant to treatment methods. This study included 12 rats where divided into two groups, each group included 6 rats. The first group was considered as a control group, without any treatment. While the second group had been given 500mg/Kg body weight of henna solution which was administered orally by stomach tube for 60 days.
