Efficiently adsorptive removal of ciprofloxacin from water by using cross-linked carboxymethyl cellulose

A series of cross-linked carboxymethyl cellulose adsorbents (CCMCs) with different degrees of carboxymethyl substitution (the molar ratios of cellulose and chloroacetic acid were 1:0.7, 1:1, 1:1.2 and 1:1.5, respectively) were synthesized through etherification and crosslinking, and were used for the removal of a popular antibiotic, ciprofloxacin (CIP) from water. CCMCs presented high adsorption capacity for CIP owing to the electrostatic adsorption and hydrogen bonding interactions.

Potential to storage the excessive energy trom wind energy through ammonia in the northeast of Brazil

The northeast region of Brazil is experimenting an increasingly large percentage of power is being generated from wind energy. This increase in the use of wind energy, this being an intermittent energy, together with the reduction of reservoirs of energy accumulation in this region, increases the need to find different sources of energy storage. Ammonia is one of the best candidates wanting to reduce the carbon emissions for energy storage, making it with hydrogen by water electrolysis.

Photobiomodulation applied to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd): A review

Photobiomodulation is the use of visible and infrared light through light emitting diodes - LED without thermal and cytotoxic reactions. It was carried out a literature review with this studyto understand photobiomodulation applied to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - COPD.It was carried out a survey in January 2023, in the SciELO, Lilacs, Pubmed, Medline and Google Scholar databases.

Evaluation of the efficacy of three plant extracts as potent mosquito Larvicides, Pupicides, and Adulticides

Mosquitoes are the major cause of several diseases all over the world. Plants have a variety of small organic molecules which are secondary metabolites, and act as natural insecticides This study was planned to evaluate the insecticidal effect of Citrus clementina Hort. peel and whole fruits of Mimusops elengi L. and Ricinus communis L. on the larvae, pupae & adult stages of Culex quinquefasciatus. The tested plant parts were collected fresh and their efficacy was confirmed at different concentrations.

Prevalence and factors associated with the neurocognitive symptoms in adults and elders living with hiv/aids in an antiviral treatment

Introdução: Studies show that about 50% of people living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) will develop some HIV Associates Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). Objectives: To describe the prevalence and factors associated with neurocognitive symptoms in adults living with HIV/AIDS undergoing antiretroviral treatment. Method: The cross-sectional study was carried out with adults (18 to 79 years old) living with HIV/AIDS on antiretroviral treatment in the municipality of Ponta Grossa- PR.

Assessment of the nutritional profile of “maralfalfa” (pennisetum sp) associated with molasses

Introduction: The “maralfalfa” scientifically called Pennisetum sp, is a grass plant of the poaceous family used in livestock feeding. The objective of this study is to assess the nutritional profile of a “maralfalfa” based formulation associated with molasses used in Chad. Methodology: To carry out this study, “maralfalfa” samples were taken from the IRED experimental pool set up by the ACCEPT project. The molasses samples were acquired from Chad Sugar Company (CST).

Hydrogen in sawdust gasification and the equilibrium model

The objective of this work was to study a stoichiometric equilibrium model for the prediction of the hydrogen content in the gas mixture resulting from the gasification of pine sawdust, analyzing the effects of the variables and parameters in a fixed bed gasifier on a pilot plant scale. The main variable studied was temperature, the parameters considered in the gasification process included the oxygen rate and the presence of steam in the gasifying agent.

Molecular endocrine model mechanism of insect metamorphosis and jh acid as the key regulator

Metamorphosis comprise dramatic transformation in shape and function of organs, tissues and individual cells. According to the classical theory of the hormonal control of insect metamorphosis, ecdysteroids initiates a molt independent on the titer of JH. However a few observations earlier indicate that tissues must first acquire competence in the presence of JH acid alone is not sufficient for the metamorphic response to ecdysteroid.
