Cigarette smoking and the oxidative stress induced biochemical changes

An investigation was carried out to assess the health status of cigarette smokers, oxidative stress induced changes and prevalence of smoking among smokers of different age groups in Thiruvananthapuram city, situated in the southern part of Kerala, India. The 52 male volunteers, aged between 20 and 70 years who are residents in Ulloor ward of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in Kerala state were selected for the study. Among these 52 subjects, 36 were current smokers and 16 were non-smokers. The body weight, height and duplicate blood pressure measurements at rest were taken.

A influência da espiritualidade e da religiosidade na qualidade de vida do acadêmico de medicina

A Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar de que forma a religiosidade e a espiritualidade interferem na qualidade de vida de graduandos em medicina. Participaram 197 acadêmicos do curso médico de uma universidade pública em Minas Gerais. Utilizou-se um questionário sociodemográfico, o WHOQOL-Bref (World Health Organization Quality of Life Breaf) e a escala de Coping Religioso-Espiritual Breve. Na análise de dados, adotou-se um nível descritivo de p≤0,05, utilizou-se a estatística descritiva, os testes Shapiro-Wilks, Mann- Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis e a correlação de Spearman.

Uso de chás para os desconfortos do período gestacional

Introdução: Definimos os chás como sendo parte da fitoterapia que é definida como a pratica de tratamentos que utiliza matéria prima de origem exclusivamente vegetal, sendo seu uso regularizado pela Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária - ANVISA. A prática do uso de fitoterápicos pela população é fundamentada na facilidade do acesso a esses insumos e seu baixo custo de aquisição, desta forma, tornando se uma opção de fácil acesso. Metodologia: para a realização desse trabalho, optou-se pelo método de revisão narrativa da literatura, sendo um estudo qualitativo.

Capsicum and Chilli peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) belongs to the Capsicum genus and family Solanaceae. The common names in English are Cayenne Pepper, Chili Pepper, Christmas Pepper, Ornamental Pepper, Red Pepper and Sweet Pepper. The names in different Indian languages are Hindi: Mirch, Manipuri: Morok, Tamil: Mulaga, Malayalam: Pacha Mulagu, Mizo: Hmarcha-te, Vai-hmarcha, and Angami: Kedi-chusi.

Management of bhagandara (fistula in ano) with ksharasutra: A Case Study

Fistula in Ano is a chronic inflammatory condition in which having a tubular structure with opening in the Anal canal or Anorectal canal at one end and surface of perineum or perianal skin on the other end. Any opening in perianal region or area with on and of pus discharge indicates fistulous tract. Obesity, Unhygienic condition, prolong sitting, Repeated irritation due to hair, may increase the risk of occurrence of Fistula. In Ayurveda Fistula in ano is correlated with Bhagandara. Acharya Sushruta classified Bhagandara as five types.

A study on water conservation through atmospheric air extraction of water

In arid and semi-arid areas with little rainfall, access to fresh water is a significant challenge. A possible solution to this issue is the extraction of water from atmospheric air. In this paper, recent research on the removal of water from atmospheric air in arid regions is reviewed. The review discusses a variety of methods, including hybrid systems that combine condensation, absorption, and adsorption. Due to its simplicity and efficiency, condensation is the technology for atmospheric water collection that is most frequently utilised.

Study of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acidadsorption on coconut shell biochar

The adsorption of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (4-CPA) by coconut shell biochar (CSB) was investigated. The effect of sample solution pH was studied. The optimum solution pH value was1. This suggested that the strong interaction of 4-CPA with the CSB.Therefore, CSB, as a green, environmental-friendly adsorbent, can be applied to the adsorption of contaminants in environment.

Monitoring of marine turtles’ populations in ilha grandebay, rj (2018-2022), As an indicator of environmental resilience

Electronuclear Tartaruga Viva program, carried out by the Faculty of Oceanography of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, monitors marine turtles in the area of influence of the Almirante Álvaro Alberto Nuclear Power Plant - CNAAA and seeks to elucidate any behavioral changes or distribution of populations in the area of influence.

Changes in brazilian dairy consumption in the early stage of covid-19 pandemic: an analysis based on the nova classification

The uncertainty caused by COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people’s habits in many ways. Understanding the effects of the pandemic on food consumption becomes essential for industries, policymakers, researchers, and interested people. This paper investigates how the early stage of COVID-19 pandemic changed the consumption of dairy products in Brazil. Estimates show that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on dairy consumption in Brazil are aligned with the most recent Brazilian food classification (NOVA).

Epidemiological analysis on tibial plateau fractures in patients treatment at a trauma hospital in the State of Rio de Janeiro

Tibial plateau fractures pose a risk to the functional integrity of the knee, in addition to having a wide variation in bone healing time, ranging from 10 weeks to 10 months, and having a high incidence of nonunion. Objectives: To analyze the epidemiological profile of tibial plateau fractures in patients treated at the orthopedics department of Hospital Geral de Nova Iguaçu. Methods: A retrospective, analytical and observational study was carried out at the General Hospital of Nova Iguaçu. Data were collected through the analysis of 70 medical records from July 2021 to July 2022.
