Evaluation of efficacy of various disinfectants in reducing microbial contamination of dental unit water lines

Background: Many studies have shown extensive contamination of dental unit water lines. This poses a potential risk of infection for patients as well as dental professionals. Objective: To compare and evaluate the efficacy of different commonly available disinfectants in reducing the microbial colony count in water derived from dental unit waterlines.

Impact of flow incentive spirometry on the ventilatory muscle function of patients in the elevative abdominal surgery post-operative

The aim of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of inspiratory flow incentive on pulmonary function and peripheral muscle strength in postoperative patients after elective abdominal surgery. Methods: Data collection was performed in the immediate postoperative period, with maximal inspiratory (MIP) and expiratory (MEP) pressures using digital manovacuometry. as well as the dynamometer measurement. Results: Fifty patients were evaluated, with a mean age of 39.92 ± 15.12 years.

Satisfaction and body image in the elderly person: An integrative literature review

Regarding issues related to body image, the elderly population presents itself as an object of relevant research, because it has, due to the naturalness of the passage of time, physical and psychological changes that determine the way of observing the own body. Aiming to reflect on the referred problem, the study proposed here aims to investigate the nuances regarding the subject of body image in the elderly that have been discussed in research at the national level, as well as to demonstrate the understandings and conclusions that these research has made it emerge.

The resveratrol effects on human health: The Brazilian overview: An integrative literature review

The purpose of the present study is to interrogate for the panorama regarding the effects of resveratrol in human health that have been established by the latest research within the Brazilian territory. To achieve this goal, we used a literature review in the form of an Integrative Review that could demonstrate these designs. We raise the following question: what aspects and designs regarding the effect of Resveratrol supplementation on human health have appeared in research in the field of health, and what notes have these researches made to emerge within the national scenario?

Profile and consumption or users and psychoactive drug substances and treatment

The present study Aimed to analyze the consumption profile of psychoactive substances by drug users undergoing treatment in the clinic rehabilitation in a medium-sized city in the state of Minas Gerais, pointing out the types of psychoactive substances most consumed correlated to possible risk factors such as age and the number of types of psychoactive substances consumed with the user's length of stay.

Prevalence of oral alterations in newborns of palmas (Brazil)

The aim of this study was to verify the prevalence of oral alterations in newborns and the treatments indicated. It was cross-sectional research, retrospective, that analyzed 9390 of newborns records in the Maternity and Intensive Unit of the Hospital and Maternity Dona Regina (HMDR) in the city of Palmas, Tocantins state, Brazil. Data were collected by a single examiner. In 2016 and 2017 the largest oral alteration found was: Epstein pearl (535), followed by Bonh Nodule (1669), the altered labial frenulum (1621) and ankyloglossia (1405).

Waste management in large distribution chains transformation of food waste

At present, there are numerous supermarket chains destined to the sale of food. The paper analyses the possibility to generate energy from the waste food of the supermarkets, which final destination is the municipal dump. Through the Circular Economy Action Plan, proposals are included to achieve the revaluation of the generated waste. Focusing on the meat and fish collection that is not sold by these well-known supermarket chains, two possible destinations can be analysed: One is the generation of biogas and the other is the production of meal and fat for animal consumption.

Antibacterial, free radical scavenging and anticancer properties of essential oil from Kyaya Ivorensis A. Juss stem bark

In vitro antibacterial activity of Khaya ivorensis stem bark oil against some human pathogens was investigated using agar diffusion method. The antioxidant and cytotoxic properties of the plant oil were also evaluated using scavenging effect on 2, 2- diphenyl-1-pieryhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and brine shrimp lethality bioassay methods respectively. Phytochemical screenings of the plant stem bark oil revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phlobatanins, phenols, anthraquinone, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids and flavonoids.

Current development carbon material based electrochemical and bio sensors review

Carbon- nanomaterials based electrochemical and biosensor have been taken a great attention as robust materials for drug, pesticides and heavy metal sensing. The materials are like graphene, reduced graphene oxide, single wall and multiwall carbon nanotubes due to their excellent modifiable sidewalls, biocompatibility, high stability, high surface area, electrical and thermal conductivities as well as high mechanical strength.
