Precooling agents: A boon to local anesthetics

Early childhood experiences with painful injections may lead to anxiety and fear. The fear of pain attributed to anesthetic needle injections is cited as an obstacle in providing appropriate dental care. These reactions need not develop if steps are taken to reduce the pain associated with injections. This review presents recent findings regarding different treatment strategies such as applying pre-cooling agents, topical anesthetics, vibrating applying pressure to the injection site and using a mechanical delivery system.

Assessment of frailty and related factors among the elderly cared at a reference center

This study aims to assess frailty and to identify the risk factors among the elderly cared at a reference center. It is a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 38 elderly cared at the Full Care Center for the Elderly Health, located in São Luís, the capital city of Maranhão, Brazil. One built the instrument for data collection with social-demographic data (gender, age, marital status, income and education). Brazilian validated version of Edmonton Frail Scale for the assessment of frailty.

Lifestyle and quality of life in users of an odontological clinic of são paulo

Objective: To investigate the profile of users of a dental clinic associated to lifestyle and quality of life related to health. Method: Cross-sectional observational study with participants of both sexes. Quality of Life (QoL) and Lifestyle (EV) evaluation, socioeconomic assessment and Caries, Lost and Sealed indexes were used. Results: There were 68 participants with average age of 47.16 ± 12.78. The distribution according to sex was balanced, with a predominance of social classes B2 (29.4%) and C1 (32.4%).

Prevalence and associated factors of substance abuse among undergradguate regular studentes

Psychoactive substances are any chemical stuff which alters physical and psychological functioning when they are ingested. Substance abuse refers to maladaptive patterns of substance use that result in negative consequences. It is becoming a serious public health problem affecting 190 million people all over the world and majority of them are youth. A worldwide burden of impairment attributable to alcohol and tobacco are 5.4 and3.7% ; cause for death of 2.5 and 6 million people each year respectively.

Extreme rehabilitation of a dental root EEFC technique

Introduction: when there is a fracture of a tooth, the root is usually difficult to reconstruct. The objective is to describe an EEFC technique of endodontic-extrusion-fixation-crown, for restoration of that root. Material and methods: a literature review limited to endodontic, extrusion, fixation and crown restoration techniques on roots of fractured teeth has been made, to describe a technique that can be used in general. Results: The description of the EEFC technique is in figures 1-6.

Factors influencing relapse among substance abuse patients attending neuropsychiatric hospital rumuigbo port harcourt, Nigeria

This study is a descriptive non-experimental survey, to determine factors influencing relapse among substance abuse patients attending Neuropsychiatric Hospital Rumuigbo Port Harcourt, Rivers state. It was guided by two specific objectives and one hypothesis. Taro Yamen’s technique was used to select a sample size of 52 respondents for the study. Data was collected using a self structured questionnaire and was subjected to analysis using both descriptive and inferential statistics and results presented in tables.

Health and administrative professionals perception regarding the patients electronic medical record (EMR)

Patient records are an essential part of the present and future medical care provided to the patient. In addition, medical records are used in the management and planning of health services and facilities, for medical research and in the generation of health and care data. This study aimed to evaluate, through the application of questionnaires, the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) advantages and disadvantages observed by users, at the University Hospital Clemente de Faria (HUCF), Montes Claros - MG.

Personality domains and emotional intelligence in the caring nurse-patient interaction: a meta-analysis

This study aimed to systematically review the existing literatures and provide a theoretical understanding of the nurses’ personality and emotional intelligence that influence caring nursing relationship. CINAHL and Medline were employed in the literature search. From 140 articles initially reviewed from database sources, only 28 articles which provide a theoretical perspective of personality and emotional intelligence in nursing were included in the analysis.

Detection of encoding gene extended spectrum beta lactamase on escherichia coli isolated from broiler chicken meat in traditional market surabaya

This study aims to isolate, to identify, and to seek out fragments of encoding gene Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase on Escherichia coli isolated from swab surface of broiler chicken meat in a number of traditional markets in Surabaya. The result shows that 31 out of 50 samples positively contain Escherichia coli, shown through EMBA isolation media and identified using indole test.

Multiprofessional performance: the importance of evaluating the patient's social context

This work discusses important aspects of the multiprofessional performance, which under an interdisciplinary perspective, is fundamental in the transformation of the existing model of health care. This process requires the appropriation of a new way of acting, capable of increasing the participation of individuals in their health-disease process.
