Mortalidade infantil por causas evitáveis no maranhão, 2015-2019: um estudo ecológico de série temporal

A taxa de mortalidade infantil é um indicador de saúde que demonstra as condições de vida ea qualidade dos serviços ofertados à população materno-infantil. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar os casos de óbitos por causas evitáveis em crianças menores de cinco anos de idade no Estado do Maranhão no período de 2015 a 2019. Trata-se de estudo ecológico de série temporal, com dados secundários provenientes de sistemas de informação em saúde. Este estudo avaliou 9998 casos de óbitos infantis por causas evitáveis em menores de cinco anos no período de 2015 a 2019 no Estado do Maranhão.

Access and use of contraceptive methods in the post-conflict rural health zone of pinga, north kivu province, dr congo

This study focuses on access to and use of contraceptive methods in rural health areas. It was carried out through the organization of Focus Group Discussions with young people of childbearing age, young adults and adults in order to collect their opinions on contraceptive methods and the obstacles to using them.The choice of the study was motivated by the fact, in general, the studies have shown that there is a low use of family planning among couples in DR Congo, with the consequences of the demographic explosion, the growth maternal morbidity and infant mortality.

Head and neck surgery reconstruction with fibula free flap

Introduction: Although considered a “gold standard” procedure for surgical reconstruction of segmental resection of the mandible due to neoplasia, the fibula flap still represents a great challenge from the reconstructive point of view, and there are few studies with descriptions of the surgical results observed in large centers, particularly in developing countries. Objectives: To describe the evolution and surgical outcomes of cancer patients undergoing segmental mandibulectomy with mandible reconstruction using a fibula flap.

Photobiomodulation therapy in nonalcoholic fatty liverdisease

Introduction: Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) can be safely employed in the treatment of liver diseases, such as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Materials and Methods: 32 individuals with a mean age range between 51.03 ± 9.58 years, suffering from NAFLD diagnosed by ultrasonography, were randomized into 2 study groups: Placebo's Group and PBMT's Group.

Effects of acute administration of valeriana officinalis extract in wistar rats submitted to stress

Entre Anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder affect a considerable part of the population and can cause manifestations of fear and anxiety. Pharmacological treatment is based on the use of benzodiazepines and antidepressants and has limitations. In this sense, the search for effective and safer treatments is necessary. Valeriana officinalis is a plant widely used to treat stress, insomnia and anxiety states.

Biotechnology in surgery: polypropylene meshes incorporated with chitosan and antibiotics in the treatment of peritoneotomy in rats - preliminary study

Introduction: Surgical meshes are common in peritoneostomies to control damage and reduce mortality in critically ill patients. The use of chitosan provides anti-adherence to the polypropylene mesh and the addition of antibiotics reduces the rate of infections. Objective: To create and test biocompatible film involving chitosan associated or not with antibiotics, by nanotechnology, and to identify adhesions when in direct contact with the abdominal viscera. Methods: In vivo experimentation in Wistar rats, with random division, according to the Reduce, Refine and Replace principles.

Objetivo: Identificar a presença de dor lombar e perda urinária em gestantes relacionando com diástase de reto abdominal, fraqueza de assoalho pélvico e peso. Método e coleta de dados: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo com abordagem exploratória, sendo realizado com 13 gestantes atendidas em uma unidade básica de saúde que foram avaliadas quanto a diástase do músculo reto abdominal e fraqueza do assoalho pélvico.

Hospitalized patient safety practices: an integrative literature review

The National Patient Safety program proposes measures to reduce the occurrence of incidents in health services, events that could or would result in harm. This study is an integrative literature review, the review is composed of five steps: problem identification, literature search, data evaluation, data analysis and review presentation. The search for studies answered the following guiding questions: what is the most current evidence in the literature on safe care for hospitalized patients after the World Alliance for Patient Safety? What is common in the results found?

Characters traces through history

The interference of the mind/body dualism in the development of diseases has determined the appearance of several theories that evaluate this relation. Among them, should be noted that character traces are associated with specific body structure, so, similar body shapes present similar behaviors/feelings.The objective of this article was to evaluate the approach to character traces over time and the presence of instruments that measure the percentage of each trace in a person.
