Septal perforation & nose the most common presenting site in post covid 19 invasive fungal rhinosinusitis: our experience
INTRODUCTION: Nasal cavity is a favourable site for the growth of fungus in immunocompromised individuals due to humid conditions. There was a sudden emergence of acute invasive fungal infection cases in the second wave of the COVID-19 in India. In the present epidemic, the aggressive nature of the disease in immunocompromised patients leads to the bony septal involvement resulting in non-iatrogenic perforation. The most common nasal sites involved in IFI post-COVID-19 infection were middle turbinate followed by middle meatus and then septum.
