Association between work ability and quality of life for taxi drivers

The transport made by taxi drivers allows the ease of locomotion, however these professionals have particularities in their work that can impact on their work ability and quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life and, work ability and its association with sociodemographic and occupational factors of taxi drivers. A cross-sectional study was carried out with 113 taxi drivers. For the data collection, a questionnaire was used (refined) for sociodemographic-occupational data.

The relationship between blood test, pas score and outer diameter of the appendix in the diagnosis of pediatric acute appendicitis

Acute appendicitis is the common cause of surgery for acute abdominal pain in children. We ought to assess the relationship between white blood cell count, PAS (pediatric appendicitis score) clinical scoring and the measurement of the outer diameter of the appendix. This study includes 480 pediatric patients who underwent surgery for suspected acute appendicitis at the General Surgery Department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health hospital between May 2019 and December 2019.

Efficiency of aerobic physical exercise in chronic orofacial pain: A systematic review

Objective: This systematic review was conducted to the following central question: In adults with chronic or facial pain, which is the efficiency of aerobic physical exercise in reducing pain? Design: Search strategies were developed to electronic database. Results: Four studies were included in the qualitative synthesis. In three transversal studies included it was observed that physical exercise led to an improvement in chronic or ofacial pain, that simple advice is equally as effective as a more intense and comprehensive physiotherapy exercise programme.

Monitoring program for nursing homes: Brazilian municipal proposal based on international standards

Introduction: On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) to be pandemic. By March 16, 2020, 139 countries were affected. In this situation, the Scientific Societies decided to prepare this Contingency Plan to guide the response of health services. 4,088,848 COVID-19 cases and 283,153 deaths were confirmed worldwide. Recent data presented by the Ministry of Health in Brazil show that 177,589 cases of coronavirus and 72,597 recovered people have already been registered.

caracterização de idosos internados por quedas em um hospital de urgência: perfil sociodemográfico, causas e complicações

Objetivo: caracterizar o perfil sociodemográfico, as causas e complicações das quedas e a prevalência de óbitos em idosos internados por quedas em um hospital de urgência. Métodos: estudo observacional, retrospectivo com dados extraídos do Banco de Prontuários Online. Prontuários de idosos corretamente preenchidos e cadastrados no sistema hospitalar nos anos de 2012 e 2013 foram incluídos. Realizou-se análises descritivas, testes de Qui-Quadrado e Regressão Logística. Resultados: 1.033 idosos foram internados por quedas, com predomínio do sexo feminino (64,5%), e idade ≥80 anos.

Effect of work on health, social and cultural aspects of the daily life of Brazilian teenagers in Bom Jesus City, Piauí State, Brazil

Introduction: The exposure of children and teenagers to work, often inadequately, has significant legal, biological, social, cultural and economic implications. Objective: this study present research results that aimed to analyze the repercussions of teenagers working. An exploratory qualitative study was conducted with 17 teenage workers, in Bom Jesus city, South of Piauí state, Brazil, based on the hermeneutic dialectic method.

Reports of coverage against measles, rubella and mumps in minas Gerais State – Brazil

Introduction: Measles is a highly transmitted acute viral disease caused by the measles morbillivirus agent that leads to complications such as diarrhea, otitis, pneumonia and encephalitis. Brazil had outbreaks in some of the Brazilian states. Objective: Analyzing the MMR records Minas Gerais state, Brazil, contained in the Information System of the National Immunization Program (SIPNI) on the DATASUS platform. Methodology: Descriptive epidemiological study, quantitative and retrospective approach.Data have extracted from DATASUS (online base) of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

Esthetic rehabilitation with lithium disilicate porcelain veneers: clinical report

This case report describes a treatment of replacing unsatisfactory and extensive composite restorations to improve anterior tooth shape, color and alignment, thereby reestablishing the esthetics and harmony of the patient’s smile. Treatment possibilities with composite resin or ceramic veneers were discussed with the patient, as well as their advantages and limitations. Teeth whitening, following by diagnostic wax-up and mock up and finally, lithium disilicate porcelain veneers were done.

Management of retro-pharyngeal abcesses in an ent department in dakar (senegal)

Introduction: Retro-pharyngeal abscesses (RPA) refer to purulent collections in the retro-pharyngeal zone [1-2]. It is an infectious and respiratory ENT emergency, mainly found during early childhood. We illustrate through this study the diagnostic and therapeutic peculiarities of RPA in a developing country. Materials and methods: This is a retrospective study conducted at the Lamine Sine Diop ENT Clinic at FANN teaching hospital in Dakar. It included 17 children aged from 0 to 16 years hospitalized for the management of RPA.

A study to assess the effectiveness of orientation to labor room unit and the nurse on anxiety, experience and outcome of delivery

Introduction: Labor and delivery is considered as the normal process in a women’s life but it is also one of the challenging and risky period for them. Preparation for child birth is an important aspect for the mother. Methodology: A quasi experimental one group pre and post test design was used in this study. Research was done on 200 samples. Samples were selected using non probability convenient sampling technique. Hamilton’s anxiety rating scale was used to assess the level of anxiety. Result: Study showed a drastic reduction in anxiety level after giving orientation.
