Analysis of the indication of antibiotic therapy in low birth weight preterm infants with presumed early-onset sepsis

Background: Early-onset sepsis (EOS) is a syndrome with high morbidity and mortality, being a significant component of this rate, both due to the difficult clinical and laboratory diagnosis, as well as the urgency of intensive care and antibiotic therapy. The objective of this study was to analyze the criteria used for the empirical treatment of presumed EOS in a public maternity hospital in the state of Pará, Brazil.

Relations between self-evaluation of public speech and emotions emerging during visualization of their performance

The objective of this pilot study was to associate the participants’ emotions while viewing footage of themselves, giving a public presentation and sociodemographic characteristics with the self-assessment when speaking in public. The Self Statements during Public Speaking Scale was applied. The level of significance adopted in the tests was p<0.05. A significance trend was considered when p<0.08. The sample consisted of 30 medical students with a mean age of 20.3 years (±1.6). The total score obtained was 37.8 (±5.9).

Literary study of nasal septum deviation: major considerations on the clinical anatomy

Introduction: The nasal septum wall, located midline in the nasal cavity, is formed by the perpendicular lamina of the ethmoid, the vomer and the cartilage of the nasal septum, but can deviate to both sides (right or left) in the nasal cavity. , for various reasons such as congenital disorders, inflammatory diseases, infectious or even trauma, causing the deviated septum. Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a literature review study on the clinical anatomy of nasal septum deviation. Methodology: The article is a literature review study.

The efficacy of hypopressive gymnastics in the physiotherapeutic treatment of stress urinary incontinence associated with cystocele

Introduction: Urinary incontinence is defined as a condition where there is the involuntary loss of urine, already cystocele is conceptualized as the fall of the bladder due to loss of support in the region where it is located. Among the types of urinary incontinence, “Effort” (SUI) is the most frequent, assessed by the International Continence Society (ICS) as involuntary loss of urine after physical exercise, cough or sneeze. Objectives: To verify the effectiveness of hypopressive gymnastics in the physiotherapeutic treatment of stress urinary incontinence associated with cystocele.

Por conseguinte, um dos mais preocupantes fatores de risco para a queda são os transtornos mentais, destacando-se a ansiedade e a depressão. Diante disso, esse estudo teve como objetivo investigar a relação entre os transtornos mentais e quedas em idosos, bem como, identificar as principais estratégias de prevenção.

The specificity of socio-psychological adaptation of students of pedagogical university in the city and district centre

The main purpose of this study is to study the influence of socio-pedagogical conditions of the educational environment in the pedagogical University of the megalopolis and the district center on the dynamics of mental health indicators of students in the learning process. The study was based on the results of testing 167 students aged 18-22 at the pedagogical University in Novosibirsk and its branch in Kuibyshev using the author's computer program. The obtained data were processed using the methods of variation and difference statistics.

Macroscopic effect of lipoic acid in skin injury in the model of diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan in rats

Objective: Evaluate the macroscopic effect of lipoic acid on skin lesion in rats with alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus model. Material and Methods: For diabetes induction, Wistar albino rats received Alloxan at 50mg/kg. After 72 hours, the glycemia was verified to confirm diabetes; animals with values below 250mg/dl were discarded.
