Transpersonal care and nurses' perception of spiritual assistance to elderly patients in palliative care

Objective: to understand the perception of nurses about spiritual care for elderly patients in palliative care. Methods: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out with 27 care nurses at the University Hospital of Brasilia in 2018. The interviews were conducted through a semi-structured script and submitted to content analysis. The technique of structuring the discourse of the collective subject was carried out.

Estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem na graduação de enfermagem: uma reflexão à luz do referencial teórico de paulo freire

Resumo: Refletir acerca das estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem utilizadas na graduação de enfermagem no processo ensino-aprendizagem. Método: Trata-se de um artigo de revisão narrativo, com enfoque reflexivoque foi suportada pela referencial teórico de Paulo Freire. Os procedimentos para a construção da reflexão foram: seleção do tema central para ponderação, discussão e seleção de publicação nacionais e internacionais que fossem alinhados ao tema e ao referencial teórico capazes de permitir a discussão.

Assistência de enfermagem para pacientes vítimas de escorpionismo

Introdução: O conhecimento assistencial das implicações do acidente escorpiônico revela a falta da conduta adequada dos enfermeiros responsáveis pelo atendimento e informações sobre a problemática, necessitando de uma educação continuada para estes profissionais. Objetivo: Analisar a assistência prestada pelos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem às vítimas de acidentes por escorpionismo em um hospital de referência no sudoeste da Bahia.

Comparison of student acceptance level in teaching human anatomy practice by anatomic parts treated with glycerin or formalin: observational study

Introduction: This article deals with a comparison of glycerin and formalin application on the anatomical pieces in the teaching of the practice of human anatomy. It can be noted that formalization is the main form of conservation of anatomical bodies and parts, because of its low cost. Conservation techniques such as formaldehyde and glycerin are the most commonly used in anatomy laboratories. Objective: The objective of this work is to perform a comparison study of glycerinized and formalized anatomical parts in the teaching of the practice of human anatomy.

Clinical profile and mortality of children with congenital cardiopathy submitted to surgery

Objective: To make a clinical and epidemiological characterization of children with congenital heart disease submitted to cardiac surgery at a referral hospital in Paraíba and correlate these data with death. Materials and Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective study with 101 children. Categorical variables were presented in tables. To determinethe associations of dependence, the Fisher's exact Chi-Square test was used and analyses were run in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, adopting a significance level of 5%.

Simulation and treatment left with the dibh technique

Radiotherapy treatment for left breast cancer may include the ipsilateral lung and especially the heart in the treatment fields. One way to minimize doses to these risky organs is to use the Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) technique, called deep breath holding. The objective of this study was to propose a standard operating procedure for the stages of simulation and tele-therapeutic treatment using the DIBH technique.

Insufficient translation of knowledge among nurses towards management of nosocomial infections at Vihiga county Referral Hospital, Western Kenya

Introduction: The nosocomial infections are responsible for long hospital stays, morbidity, and mortality and are costly to manage. While episodes of NIs are recognized in hospitalized patients worldwide, and in all age groups, higher incidences are found in resource-limited settings, especially in Africa. The healthcare workers, particularly nurses, play a critical role in the spread, prevention and control of NIs. However, in poor resource settings, limited studies have been conducted to ascertain this.

Acidentes domésticos por queimaduras em criaças menores de cinco anos

Objetivo: identificar fatores de risco para acidentes domésticos, causados por queimaduras, em crianças menores de cinco anos de idade. Método: estudo transversal, com 354 cuidadores de crianças do nordeste do Brasil. Utilizou-se de formulário referente às questões socioeconômicas e checklist para observação do ambiente. Realizaram-se análises bivariadas, utilizando-se do teste Qui-quadrado de Pearson.

Fatores de risco para doenças cardiovasculares em estudantes de medicina

O objetivo deste estudo foi estimar a prevalência dos fatores de risco para doença cardiovascular em estudantes de medicina e comparar entre homens e mulheres. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com 95 estudantes. Foram analisados dados sociodemográficos e fatores de risco cardiovascular. Realizou-se análise estatística, com nível de significância de 5%. A idade média encontrada foi de 22,2 anos (±3,4), sendo 56,1% mulheres.
