Analysis of vitamin a serum profile in patients attended at a tertiary healthcare teaching hospital laboratory

Aim: Characterize the Vitamin A serum profile, by means of lab exams done in Brazilian patients, from 2012 to 2016, in a Tertiary Teaching-Hospital laboratory, correlating it with gender, age range, and health care systems types - Public or Private, correlating it with gender, age range and types of health care systems. Material and Method: Retrospective, descriptive work using 234 Vitamin A serum dosage reports performed in routine consultations. Data collected: gender, age, whether by Public or Private health care system.

Surgical varieties in the management of tiptoeing cerebral palsied spastic children

Sixteen children with fixed equinus deformity of the ankle due to spastic cerebral palsy were evaluated and surgically treated in a prospective study held at the orthopaedic department of Rafae General Hospital during the period from March 2015 to June 2017. The aim of the study were to cite through proper clinical assessment the specific deformities that contribute to tiptoe standing or walking in these children and to choose the appropriate surgical procedures , in order to improve their functional outcome .There were 9 boys and 7 girls with their ages up to 10 years.

Osteoporosis: A cross-sectional study

Osteoporosis is the most serious aggravating factor after age 50, women develop osteoporosis more frequently due to the lower bone mass peak and the Persian effect of estrogen during menopause. The present study aimed to analyze the profile of postmenopausal women. A cross - sectional study with a qualitative approach was carried out. The sample consisted of 14 women with osteoporosis. From the results, it was identified that 100% of the interviewees were female, with a predominantly age range of 51 to 66 years.

An overview in regenerative endodontics – current concept

The management of immature permanent teeth with pulpal disease can be very challenging for the clinician. Regeneration is the process of renewal, restoration, and growththat makes genomes, cells, or organisms resilient to natural fluctuations or events that cause disturbance or damage. Every species, from bacteria to humans, is capable of regeneration. Regeneration can either be complete where the new tissue is the same as the lost tissue, or incomplete where fibrosis occurs after the necrotic tissue is removed.

Camouflage in research – the hawthorne effect

Participant observation can be an excellent way to gather qualitative data and observe real behaviours, provided the participant observer does not cause a behavioural change from the norm. Such a change in behaviour is known as the Hawthorne effect – where people modify their behaviour when they know they are being watched or studied. Though little research has been published on the influence of the Hawthorne effect in simulation studies, it is an inescapable phenomenon that can have a dramatic impact on research.

Perception of puerperas attended in a public hospital on the practice of obstetric violence

Objective: It investigate the perception of obstetric violence through the reports of women who had their children through vaginal delivery and cesarean section in the Regional Hospital Dr. Abelardo Santos. Method: This was a qualitative study with descriptive-exploratory characteristics. It Held in a public hospital in Belém/Pa, this study was conducted with 15 hospitalized women. The collection was carried out from March to April 2017, in which the participants were first invited to the survey, where they were informed and clarified about the research theme and its objectives.

A comparative evaluation of acute toxicity and locoregional control by concomitant chemoradiation therapy with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

Introduction: Head and neck cancer is the commonest malignancy in India. Most of the cases present at a locally advanced stage. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy with or without neo-adjuvant chemotherapy are both viable treatment options in locally advanced cases. Materials & Methods: 30 biopsy proven cases of locally advanced head and neck cancer attending the Out Patient Department of Radiotherapy from August 2016 to May 2018, meeting specified Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria, willing to participate in the study were included.

Health educational nursing actions related to homophobic bullying with students: integrative review

In order to identify the actions of health education fulfilled by nurses related to homophobic bullying, search was accomplished, the databases: MEDLINE, SCOPUS, CINAHAL, IBECS, ADOLEC, CIDSAÚDE, ERIC, APA PYSICNET, SOCINDEX, LILACS, BDENF and WEB OF SCIENCE, from the descriptors (DeCS / MeSH): Students, bullying, homophobia and nursing, in the Portuguese, Spanish and English languages, in the period of 2011-2017. The selected studies were evaluated regarding methodological approach and level of evidence.
