Factors associated with quality of life with prostate cancer

Objective: To evaluate factors associated with the quality of life of men with prostate cancer. Methodology: This is an analytical, transversal research with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 226 men with prostate cancer under treatment at the AldenoraBello Cancer Hospital. For data collection, a socioeconomic, demographic, lifestyle questionnaire and a specific questionnaire were used to evaluate the quality of life in cancer. Anthropological analysis of teaching / learning of sociology in secondary school: representations of students and teachers of a state school of campo Grande- Ms, Brazil

Prevalence of toxoplasmosis in who have recently given birth hospitalized in a maternity public reference mother and child, in the municipality of Belém, Pará, Brazil

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of the toxoplasmosis between puerperas attended in a public motherhood in the city of Belém of the Pará. We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study, involving puerperas to obtain data of serum positivity for Toxoplasmosis and their correlations through the application of an instrument Protocol and blood collectionThe predominant sampling was between 19 to 23 years (30,5%); the majority residing in the metropolitan region of Belém (48,3%).

Effectiveness of psychological support on healing of burn patients

In this study, the psychological support and the potential impact of its factors on the healing of burn patients were done hospitalized, in conjunction with medical treatment, psychological support was intensified for patients for two consecutive months. According to a specific program, special sessions were held by psychologists on 32 and 49 patients for the months of November and December, respectively. Sessions are psychological, focused and take 45-60 minutes per patient, include patient support, encouragement, focus on self-esteem as well as distraction methods used.

Use of contact precautions in the control of hospital infection in an intensive care unit: an integrative Review

Hospital Infections (HI) are a serious public health problem, so, the present study aimed at analyzing the strategies associated with contact precautions in the reduction of microorganisms in the ICU. This is an integrative review of the literature, using the following steps: development of the guiding question; search for studies in the databases; selection of articles; extraction of data from studies; evaluation of the selected studies; analysis and synthesis of the results and presentation of the review.

Aberrant In nominate artery a rare cause of stridor: Case report

A boy 6 years old known case of cobalamin c disease admitted to ICU due to stridor and respiratory distress. ENT referral done to assess the upper airway and to rule out any cause of upper airway obstruction. Endoscopic examination was normal. CT scan chest with contrast ordered, and showing innominate artery compressing the trachea. This case reported to high light the possibility of this rare situation. We have to put this possibility in mind during the differential diagnosis of stridor causes especially if no clear cause is there.

Analysis of registration and content of checklist for safe surgery and safe departure at cesariana

The proposal of the present study was born from the need to carry out an investigation about the use of protocols during the process of cesarean delivery by nurses, as well as the recognition of the nursing care models that encompass the theme of patient safety during childbirth cesarean section, in order to analyze how the nurse practitioner proceeds to the application of WHO checklists for safe surgeries and safe deliveries. Thus, this study has as main objective to analyze the records and contents of checklist of safe surgery and safe deliveries.

Comparing the effectiveness of herbal remedies and lifestyle modification on minimizing polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common, complex reproductive problem that affects women in reproductive age. It is characterized by menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovaries. Lifestyle modification is a first-line intervention. Women often seek adjunct therapies including herbal remedies. So, the aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of lifestyle modification plus herbal remedies, with lifestyle modification alone on minimizing PCOS symptoms and weight loss.

An Exploratory Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Uterine Prolapse and its Prevention among staff nurses in Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab

Pelvic organ prolapse is considered as one of the most common cause of reproductive health morbidity which influences the women quality of life. Uterine prolapse is very common condition that can occur in women of any age but it often affects postmenopausal women who’ve had one or more vaginal deliveries. Women don’t seek medical help because of shame. The present study was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding uterine prolapse and its prevention among staff nurses in Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Effects of a physical exercise program on pelvic floor muscular activity in pregnant women with stress urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is experienced by all women and men who suffer as a real handicap. It is a real public health problem. The objective of this research is to study the effect of a physical exercise program on the muscular activity (strength and endurance) of the pelvic floor and the symptoms of urinary incontinence (quantity, frequency of urinary leakage, overall quality of life). This is an intervention study of 114 pregnant women with stress urinary incontinence selected at the National University Hospital Center in Cotonou (CNHU-HKM).
