Cognitive decline and psychotropic drug use in elderly people with mental disorders: a narrative review

The growth in the number of older persons in the population is considered a worldwide phenomenon, with direct consequences in health systems. The pertinent literature points out an increase in the diagnosis of mental disorders and the prescription of psychotropic drugs for that population, as well as frequent complaints regarding cognition. The paper aims to discuss cognitive decline and its relationship with psychotropic drug use in aged people with mental disorders. The data collection method was based on the review of books and papers published between 2000 and 2018.

The community agent in the family health strategy: vision of the users in the municipality of quixadá – ce

The Family Health Strategy (ESF) has been playing a strategic role for the consolidation of the Unified Health System (SUS). Among these professionals, emphasis is placed on the Community Health Agent (ACS). This study aimed to know the vision of the users of the Basic Units of Family Health (UBS) on the ACS. This is a descriptive, exploratory, quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out during the month of March 2013, being executed in three UBS in the municipality of Quixadá, through a Form. The sample consisted of 60 users who were approached while awaiting service.

Exclusive breastfeeding, socioeconomic and gestation profile of users of primary and hospital care

Breastfeeding is a natural and effective act and its success depends on the socioeconomic factors of the infant. The objective of the study was to characterize the socioeconomic and gestational profile of women, identify the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding among their children, describe characteristics of prenatal care and delivery, and verify whether they received prenatal care.

The contribution of dynamic contrast enhanced mri in the diagnosis of breast cancer

Background: Breast MRI has evolved as a promising complimentary sensitive tool for detection and local staging of breast cancer. In this study our goal was to determine the role of MRI in the preoperative assessment of breast cancer in conjunct with the traditional imaging modalities. Acute kidney injury prediction using phosphorus as a simple biomarker in pediatric cardiac surgery patients

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a strong predictor of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.Lack of valid early biomarkers for predicting AKI has hampered the ability to take therapeutic measures for preventive cause.It was not studied in this context and could be simple marker of AKI.Therefore, we tested role of serum phosphorus in prediction of AKI as a simple biomarker after cardiac surgery in pediatric population. Methodology: We prospectivelye valuated 113 children aged between 3mo-12yrs undergoing elective cardiac surgery.

International classification of functioning, disability and health in professional practice: theoretical reflection

Objective: Weaving reflections on the use of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Professional Practice of Health. Method: A reflexive study from the reading of texts on the said classification in professional practice. Results: It presents an approach about the family of classification of the World Health Organization with emphasis in this classification and a reflection on its use as a multiprofessional terminology with a focus on health, enabling systematic practice based on evidence and in decision-making according to the real needs of individuals.

The teaching of health planning for residents in multiprofessional family health: theory and practice

A comparative evaluation of flexural strength of composite resins on glass fibre reinforcement

Aim: To evaluated the effects of glass fibre layering on the flexural strength of hybrid and microfill composites. Methodology: A stainless steel mold of dimension (25x2x2 mm) was used to fabricate a total of 90 speimens of corresponding dimensions according to the groups-control and experimental groups. A 3-point bending test was carried out to assess the flexural strength. Load was applied on the specimens by using a universal testing machine, at crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The fracture load was recorded in kilo Newton which then converted to mega Pascal.
