Effects of bark flour of passion fruit on metabolic syndrome: A randomized clinical trial

Objectives: To analyze the effects of a treatment with bark flour of passion fruit in people with metabolic syndrome. Method: randomized clinical trial with a sample of 50 people with metabolic syndrome, assigned randomly to two groups: intervention group (n=25) or thecontrol group (n=25). The intervention consisted in consumingbark flour of passion fruit for eight weeks. Anthropometric measures, biochemical parameters and blood pressure were measured as the markers of metabolic control. The Mann-Whitney test was used for inter-group comparison before and after the intervention.

Facilitating and barrier beliefs for drug adherence in light of the theory of planned behavior: Integrative Review

Objective: To analyze the evidence on the use of the Theory of Planned Behavior for the collection of drug adherence-related beliefs. Methods: This is an integrative review carried out on the MEDLINE, Scopus Info Site (SCOPUS) and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) platforms. Results: It was evidenced that the control of the disease and the prevention of complications were highlighted among the advantages related to drug adherence, and the side effects were relevant among the disadvantages.

The impact of high-dose desloratadine in treating chronic idiopathic Urticaria in Libyan patients

Chronic idiopathic urticaria it`s a transient vascular reaction pattern characterized by short-lived circumscribed erythematous, edematous and itchy wheals usually lasting for a few hours to few days for a period of at least six weeks without an identifiable causes and its negative influence on the quality of life. It's a disabling affliction that considerably limits patients' daily activities. Desloratadine is a long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor. and possesses anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory activity.

Elderly primigravidae versus young primigravidae in najaf governorate (pregnancy outcome regarding antenatal, peripartum and postpartum occurrences)

Background: The elderly primigravida defined as a woman who goes into pregnancy for the first time at the age of 35 years or older. This has become more common in many societies and traditionally such pregnancy regarded as a high risk pregnancy. Objectives: To determine and compare the pregnancy outcome in elderly primigravidae aged 35 years old and above with those of young primigravidae (less than 35 years old).

Tooth supported overdenture retained with custom post attachment: A case report

The concept of conventional tooth-retained overdenture is a simple and cost effective treatment than the implant overdentures. This usually requires selecting 2, 3 or more natural teeth to support the denture. Root canal therapy is then performed on these teeth and they are shaved down to the gum and customized posts are then attached into them so that the denture can be anchored on the top of that. This clinical report describes a method of fabricating a tooth supported overdenture retained with custom made posts.

Subclinical systemic lymphedema manifesting early in patients with clinical lymphedema

Objective: The objective of the present study is to compare intracellular and extracellular fluid variations in patients with lymphedema and body mass indexes between 25 and 37 with a control group. Subjects: A cross-sectional study was carried out of 30 consecutive patients with grade III (elephantiasis) leg lymphedema and BMI between 25 and 37 treated at the Clinica Godoy in São Jose do Rio Preto-Brazil. Variations in intracellular and extracellular fluid were evaluated by bioelectrical impedance analysis.

Introduction-The importance of the facial aesthetics to the practice of orthodontics had its origin since beginning of the specialty. This study aims to assess the perioral soft tissue in individual having ANB angle 0-2°,3-5°, and more than 5° and Intergroup and Intragroup comparison of perioral soft tissue between the three groups. Material and Method-Lateral cephalogram of 103 patients were randomly selected between the age 18-29 years which were divided into three groups Group I having ANB angle (0-2°), Group II having ANB angle (3-5°) and Group III having ANB angle >5° respectively.
