Despite being a democratic nation, India still grapples with gender discrimination which begins at birth and persists throughout life. Women have long been viewed in society as inferior to males. Throughout her life, she has been conditioned to remain dependant on males. Women are viewed as a medium for looking after, caring for and keeping everyone happy. She lacks independence and cannot express her ideas.
