Assessment of female performance in integrated science in the B.Ed. part-time Programme of university of Jos

The study concentrated on female part-time students’ performance in Integrated Science from 2009 to 2012. Three research questions were formulated and analyzed. Population of the study was 86 female part-time students. Sample was 86 students as well, due to the small size of the population.  The result of the study showed that ‘between’ 2009 to 2012, about 67%, 60%, 40% and 49% of the female candidates who were to graduate could not because they failed in the subject area respectively.

Impact of silvicultural treatments on establishment of seedlings of sal (Shorea robusta) and its associates in natural Sal forests

Sal (Shorea robusta) which is the most dominant tree species of the Sal forests in India is under threat. Sal seeds germinate profusely but the establishment of seedlings and conversion of seedlings into trees is very low. ‘Die back’ of Sal seedlings prevents its establishment due to several factors. This paper studies the impact of certain treatments; like opening of canopy, soil & moisture conservation, Protection against fire and grazing; on the establishment of Sal seedlings as well as seedlings of its associates.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal and dark septate endophytic association in some grasses from Amravati (M.S.)

Grass family is one of the largest and important families of the plant kingdom and grasses have great role in sustainable development of biodiversity. Present investigation was conducted to study the Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi associated with some of the grasses from three different sites of Amravati region of Maharashtra, India. The physico-chemical characteristics of soil samples of all the study sites were analyzed. The AM Fungal spore count ranged from 130 to 216 and the percent root colonization of AM Fungi varied in the range of 60 to 100%.

Microbial quality evaluation of milk products

Milk products are considered as a complete diet and it is rich source for proteins, fat, sugar, minerals and vitamins which is required for the growth as well as for maintenance.  However, it has been observed that it also acts as excellent medium/carrier for the pathogenic/spoilage microorganism. These milk products may be contaminated intentionally/unintentionally at different level at the time of production, processing and marketing. Therefore, the present study was conducted with an objective to assess the quality of market milk products available in and around Ludhiana.

Studies on morphological diversity and frequency of phytoliths of underutilized grass species of cyperaceae

The phytoliths are micrometric particles protect the plant from various stresses; in past provides mechanical support and durability to the plant. Phytoliths from grasses are well documented and broadly applied in some archaeo-botanical studies, whereas sedge phytoliths have received less attention. Since sedge phytoliths appear to be morphologically distinct from those in grasses, they may be of taxonomic importance.

Fuzzy synchronization of the 3D chaotic systems using belbic

This paper presents fuzzy model-based designs for synchronization of new chaotic system. The T–S fuzzy models for new chaotic systems are exactly derived. Then utilizing an intelligent controller which based on brain emotional learning (BELBIC), this fuzzy chaotic system is synchronized. Numerical simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Studies on seasonal variation of some important characters of guava under eastern plateau and hill region

Eastern plateau and hill regions of India are a potential zone for guava cultivation. Thirty-two varieties of guava were taken in respect of yield and physic-co-chemical characters and these were changed with different seasons.  The main objective of this research work was to find out suitable commercial cultivars and their respective seasons to grow in this particular agro- climatic zone of India. Fruit weight and fruit size were gradually increased from summer to rainy season and thereby winter season.

Study of prime numbers through their historical development applying Matlab

Our objective is to analyze the theoretical development of prime numbers commenting on the historical constructs; and, through the application of Matlab, propose new forms to study the polynomials, the functions and the theorems involved. The idea is that the software facilitates the comprehension of a complicated subject and helps to carry out demonstrations necessary in the mathematical analysis of the subject. In addition, it promotes the interest in numbers theory among more students.

Proximate, mineral, amino acid composition and mineral safety index of Callinectes latimanus

The proximate, mineral and amino acid compositions as well as mineral safety index (MSI) of Callinectes latimanus were determined on dry weight basis. In the proximate values, crude fat was lowest at 0.87 g/100 g whereas carbohydrate was highest at 46.2 g/100 g but crude fibre was not detected. In the total energy contribution, carbohydrate value contribution was 68.7 % but only 2.82 % from crude fat. In the minerals composition, the following were highly concentrated: Ca, Mg, K, Na and P; Se, Pb, Zn, Mn, Co and Cu were low in values whereas Fe was moderately concentrated.

Siyāsah al-sharʿiyyah (islamic political science) as a discipline of knowledge in Islam

The birth and development of political institutions is largely the product of human thought and action. The creation of the ‘Madinah Society’ which is considered by the majority of Muslim scholars as the first ‘Muslim community’ was produced by Prophet Muḥammad’s (PBUH) concept of community (ummah). The concept is based onthe social and political interaction between him and his followers in the cities of Makkah and Madinah.
