The national action plan on climate change and sustainable water resources management

With growing scarcity of water and deteriorating quality, water resources management in India is becoming more challenging with the passage of time. The imminent onset of climate change will exacerbate these impacts, placing even greater pressure on already stressed resources and regions. The National Action Plan on Climate Change of the Government of India (2008), provides useful insight on climate-change impacts on water resources. The plan sets a goal of a 20% improvement in water use efficiency through pricing and other measures.

Neuroprotective effects of atorvastatin through anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic mechanisms against transient ischemic/reperfusion injury in diabetic rats

Stroke and diabetes mellitus are two separate conditions which share multiple common threads. Atorvastatin plays an important role in the maintenance of hyperlipidemia especially in diabetic patients. Debate continues about the best strategies for management of diabetic stroke. Thus, interest was raised to investigate the neuroprotective effects of atorvastatin against transient ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in diabetic rats targeting mainly the oxidative-inflammatory-apoptotic cascade which has been previously addressed as co-conspirators in this insult.

Effects of metformin, glimepiride, sitagliptin and their combinations on blood glucose levels in streptozotocin induced diabetes mellitus in albino rats

According to “The International Diabetes Federation”, the number of people living with diabetes worldwide is expected to rise from 366 million in 2011 to 552 million by 2030. This equates to approximately three new cases every ten seconds or almost ten million cases per year. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) reports a projected prevalence of 70 million patients in India by the year 2025, and the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that India will have 80 million cases of diabetes by 2030.

Effect of inclusion of different levels of liquid corn gluten on performance, carcass characteristics and blood parameters of broiler chickens

Experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of inclusion of liquid corn gluten to broiler diet on growth performance, carcass characteristics and blood parameters. In a randomly complete design two hundreds (200) day old broiler chicks (Ross 308) were divided into 20 groups, ten chicks per group, and five experimental diets were formulated and each diet was given to four replicates from 1-42 days of age. Diets were fed to the chickens from 1-14 (starter), 15-28 (grower) and 29-42 (finisher) days of age.

A comparative study of employability skills with reference to employers of public and private sector

The main objective is to identify the employability skills required by public and private companies and to conduct a comparative evaluation of how the public and private sector employers perceive the employability skills. Fourteen variables that make up employability skills based on past research were examined in this study. Data were collected through questionnaire on online survey mode that intended to gauge employers’ perceptions. The sample respondent had taken employers from public and private sector.

Trends in teaching based on emerging technologies – a new perspective

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a term that includes any communication device or application, such as radio, television, mobiles, computer and network, hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning. The ICTs are often spoken of in a particular context, such as the ICTs in education, health care, or libraries. The term is somewhat more common outside of the United States.

Impact of tourism in Indian economy

This paper coins how tourism sector is significant for Indian economy. Developing country like India tourism has become one of the major sectors of the economy, contributing to a large proportion to GDP and employment opportunities. Tourism is one of the fastest growing service industry in the country with great potentials for its further expansion and diversification. Tourism industry plays a major role in any country’s economic development. It helps significantly to the country for creating the employment opportunities to the large number of people.

Social life in char area: A study of neo-Assamese Muslim village in Brahmaputra valley of Assam

The Neo-Assamese Muslims or the immigrant Muslims of the char area (or reverine islands) of Brahmaputra Valley of Assam constitute an important segment of the total population of Assam. However, very little is known about the socio-cultural and politico-economic life of this community.

Diagnostics and antibiotic resistance of Yersinia ruckeri strains isolated from trout fish farms in Bulgaria

The study included 12 Yersinia ruckeri isolates from rainbow trout with symptoms of yersiniosis. Phenotypic and genotypic analysis of the isolates were performed by conventional microbiological, biochemical and molecular methods. Identification was confirmed by PCR using Y. ruckeri-specific primers and antibiotic resistance profiles were determined. Some isolates were found to be resistant to florfenicol, erythromycin, and oxytetracycline, which are licensed for use in fish farms.

Application of solvent injection method to develop stable, sustained release solid lipid Nanoparticles of Curcumin

Curcumin has a wide spectrum of biological and pharmacological activities such as anti- inflammatory and anti-cancer activities but its main drawbacks (poor bioavailability and rapid metabolism) have restricted its therapeutic applications. The main strategies used to overcome the physicochemical limitations of curcumin in order to improve its bioavailability are based on loading the compound in nanocarriers, such as liposomes, cyclodextrins and solid lipids. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to formulate Solid lipid nanoparticles of curcumin (CSLNs) to overcome its drawbacks.
