Cauvery delta hydrology: factors and functions

Water depletion and repletion are issues which need some attention. Considering the low resource levels due to deforestation and other anthropogenic activities, water harvesting in any form is important to save the blue Planet that we are in. Cauvery delta has been a well flourishing delta, for the morphological factors are really conducive, aiding to its freshness and fullness. The descending mean sea level right from Talakaveri to Poompuhar furthermore increases its flourishing nature.

Stage directions: from page to playhouse

Stage directions are a new research area among scholars of early modern drama. ‘Stage direction’ is a term that invites the reader of a play to imagine the written dialogue as dramatic action staged in the theatre. Stage directions can be remnants of a text used for performance, or equally, they may be put in after performance, to evoke action for readers. In other words, they may survive from original guidance notes to performers to direct their movement, or their purpose may be to recreate that movement in the reader’s imagination.

Environmental factor influence on foliar and stem pests of grain amaranth in low midlands agro-ecological zones of Kenya: Correct timing for effective pest management

The pigweed beetle Hypolixus haerens Boheman has been cited as a major insect pest of grain amaranth worldwide. A study to evaluate injury level of both foliar and stem damage pests in Kenya revealed that the stem beetle H. haerens caused higher stem damage in the hotter zone (26-30 ºC) than the cooler zone (22-26 ºC) in the low midlands zones of Kenya.

Change and growth rate analysis in area, yield and production of wheat in Ethiopia

The study measured the change and growth rate in area, production, and yield of wheat in Ethiopia based on secondary data during 1991/92-2012/13. Pared t-test was used to identify the significant change in area, production and yield of wheat between the periods 1991/92-2001/02 and 2002/03-2012/13. And semi-log model was applied to measure the compound annual growth rate of wheat for period I (1991/92 to 2001/02), period II (2002/03 to 2012/13) and the whole period (1991/92 to 2012/13).

Formulation and evaluation of a moisturizing day cream containing olive leaves extract

The purpose of the current work is to investigate the incorporation of olive leaves extract standardized for oleuropein which have antioxidant, anti inflammatory, skin protectant and anti-aging properties into stable topical moisturizing day cream formulations. The physiochemical and rheological properties, and accelerated stability tests of three cream formulas containing different concentrations (0.1%, 0.4% and 1.0% w/w) of olive leaf extracts were assessed and compared with commercial cream product containing no olive leaf extract.

Co-variants influencing morbidity pattern among aging women

Health and Human rights has explicit intrinsic connections and has emerged as powerful concepts. The graying world is also witnessing several other phenomena, one of which is that of ‘graying feminization of aging’.

Enhanced salt-mediated oxidative stress tolerance in transgenic tobacco overexpressing acerola gdp-l-galactose phosphorylase and phosphomannomutase genes

Ascorbate (AsA) plays an important role in stress responses in plants as one of the highly abundant metabolites that scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS). Under salt stress conditions, transgenic tobacco plants overexpressing acerola (Malpighia glabra) GDP-L-galactose phosphorylase (GGP) and phosphomannomutase (PMM) genes accumulated higher amount of AsA, exhibited reduced levels of lipid peroxidation, and maintained higher levels of chlorophyll compared with control plants.
